Series DS 1999 strange voltage reading
Been checking a DS cart and according to the Manual, with the A2 terminal on the motor disconnected and the pedal at rest there should be 48v across B+ and M-, being capacitor voltage. Although the cart is working the voltage at rest across B+ and M- reads 32v and not 48v. Could this be a sign of imminent failure or just old age. Tks

Is your pack unhooked? If so, the capacitors may have only had 32v remaining and that is all you read.

What are you trying to test for?

Re: Series DS 1999 strange voltage reading
The cart was not going and I was testing the controller and found a fault with the yellow wire from the pot. When that error was fixed I re-connected the batteries and did the test mentioned. The voltage at B+ is 50.3 but between B+ and M- only 32v

Re: Series DS 1999 strange voltage reading
If you are trying to test the output of the controller to the motor (providing the throttle input is correct) you can measure what the controller is putting out to the motor between the M- on the controller and the B-. The voltage should be about 48vdc (or pack voltage) when the pedal is pushed just enough to engage the solenoid and then gradually decreasing to 0vdc when the pedal is pushed all the way to the floor.
