Default Attention knowledgeable golf cart people

need some questions answered

I was in contact with plum quick and we did some talking

My motor is a little old to rebuild and a new motor is a little to much for me

So beings the Controller conversation.

I have a Logisystems - Buggies 700 amp 5k-0 input

per plum quick this is what they said
"If I were you, I'd start with googling how to change your programming on that current controller. There has to be a way"

So now my curiosity is peaked.. Can this be done? Who do i get ahold of and how and if not whats my next best step here

Which controller would be a good upgrade from what i have now because i know i can drag a dead golf cart through soft sand while spinning 26in atv tires (slow but still ) and im not trying to loose the ability to do wheelies and drag broken carts through the woods

Not all controllers are programmable. It's been a while since I've seen a Logisystems controller, but if my memory serves me correctly, the ones that I dealt with in the past were not programmable. I strongly suggest an Alltrax SR series controller. It's fully programmable and tune-able to your liking. They are available in a 300,400,500, and 600 version, with each of them putting out slightly more power than their advertised amp rating. I'd put both the 500 and the 600 against the Logisystems 700 all day long and my money would be on either Alltrax to outperform it every time. While the Logisystems controller may be rated at 700 amps peak, it's only gonna do it for a short period of time before the amperage starts to drop off. The Alltrax will maintain peak power output longer than any other DC motor controller on the market.

You would want an SR-48500 or 600. You can see them here. https://www.revolutiongolfcars.com/c...-club-car-ds-i

I doubt you are ever pulling more than ~400 amps, but with the Alltrax Tool Kit you will know for sure....

I'm not following the discussion right?
You said PQ won't rebuild your motor but have you asked D&D or EMP ? Both are quite capable of rebuilding and modifying the motor. EMP is very good at modifying for more whatever you want
A new controller? Did the Logisystem unit die? Is it turned all the way up? It has manual controls for ramp rate, plug braking, and current limit.
Another thought is this, if you are spinning 26s towing a dead cart, what exactly are you looking to accomplish performance-wise and how are you going to get that with a smaller controller on the same motor?

Plum quick dosnt want to touch it
I have not reached out to D&D and ive not heard of EMP
The logisystem did not die but i figured it was old Tech so more current stuff that can be tuned would be more capable

I would like to get about 5 more mph out of the cart but i do not want to lose any torque

And as ive read in the depths of this forum the 500 and 600 amp alltraxs are supposed to be the BeesKnees .. so if i can get one of those and turn it up i would think i could get more speed and maybe some more low end out of it

Yes the 700 Logisystems is old tech but 700 amps is 700 amps of which I'll bet you are not pulling more than a percentage of it's capacity. FSIP is still making this control under the Star or GE name. You can search them for adjustment info...FSIP used to send an adjustment tool with each one back in the day.' I know I have posted the adjustment info on this website many times, you can search for it.
I didn't carry that info over to this new PC after we stopped selling them. They do have 3 small delicate potentiometers on the side that requires an eyeglasses size common screwdriver.

As far as the SR control in any size giving you more power and speed compared to what you have now. That's a big question without a blanket answer. I'd contact Alltrax tech support and ask at 541-476-3565 ext 3.
And contact Vic at D&D or Chuck at EMP here >http://empinc.biz/

Good Luck

I agree with Scottyb; if it ain't broke don't fix it.

I see no adjustments on your controller like the newer 700 FSIP I have, but saying that, if you're able to turn 26" tires no problem and you're able to drag other golf carts through mud, what else are you trying to accomplish? If it's getting more speed, a controller won't help with that. A different motor would, but you need to know with series carts there's always a trade off with speed and torque.

I'd call chuck before getting a new controller. He can build you a 2 speed motor so you get the speed and keep the torque for when you need it.

I will agree, your controller looks like it's seen better days and who knows what kind of amperage it's really putting out at it's age and condition, but there's no way your getting 700 amps to your motor.
