Default Curtis Motor Controller 1204 vs 1204M for 04 Villager 8

I have a 04 Villager 8 with a Curtis PMC 1204-412 Controller 300amp that I had rebuilt 2 years ago and upgraded to 400amps - I am pretty sure I ruined it and rather than get it rebuilt again I am going to replace with a new one - the question is on Curtis website they show the 1204M series [1204M-6301] as a replacement but they also still have a direct drop in 1204-412 - the 1204M is 325amps and cheaper $339 versus $628 for the 300amp direct replacement

My question: What makes the most sense? - how to tell for sure if the 1204M is the better buy

Thanks for any suggestions
Mark M

The 1204M is a programmable controller and you will need a programmer or have it programmed to your cart. I would suggest an Alltrax SR-48400 as a replacement as that will get you the best controller on the market with complete control by you and your laptop with the Alltrax Tool Kit. That controller has an industry leading 2 year warranty, more deliverable amperage, and complete user controlability. You can see see the here. https://www.revolutiongolfcars.com/motor-controllers

You could also take a look at the controls that FSIP carries. You can get either a 500amp or 700amp control that would work with this application.

Thanks for the advice - I bought it - put it in [way too tall to just bolt in place of the Curtis] but I have one question - maybe I have it wired wrong but I do not see the blinking Green LED status come on when I turn on the key switch - I only get the Status [in my case 7 blinks and one steady = 5k Club throttle] until I partially depress the accelerator and hear the Solenoid engage.

If my description makes sense - is that normal or do I have something wired wrong?

The status is it. It blinks 7 times for the throttle and then goes solid green - Solid green meaning it is ready.....

I replied to your email, but I'll reply here as well. The "SR" controllers for series cars are not technically "ON" until you depress the accelerator and provide power to the red KSI-ON wire that you plugged into the KSI input of the controller. This is normal.

Regarding your comment about it being too tall, can you elaborate? Yes it's taller than the Curtis, but if you use longer bolts it will bolt into the same four mounting holes. Are you having a clearance issue? Where? I've never had any clearance issues replacing a Curtis series controller with an Alltrax in a Club Car. Thank you for your feedback.
