Try the Stratum agency. Search online for "Stratum LSV". They insure through Safeco. Another bit of advise. Now that you have converted to an LSV never refer to it as a Golf Cart especially to a insurance agent.

Well its not an LSV yet as I am awaiting an appointment for it to be inspected but yes that Stratum Agency is the only insurance co I have found that will insure just a LSV by itself. Another thing I have wondered about is once the golf cart is deemed a LSV it can not have its insurance dropped while its still in your ownership or your licence will be suspended? I guess if you cancel the registration that would be possible.

Interesting you should ask that, as I got a letter from the DHSMV last month saying they were going to suspend my license because the insurance company rejected my claim of coverage when I registered the LSV.

Apparently Safeco didn't like the VIN I provided when I registered, but we got that straightened out after I sent a photograph of the VIN on the steering column. However, Safeco never got back to the state to tell them that my coverage was in effect, so the state decided to suspend my license. Fortunately they were nice enough to notify me. The last time this happened (when I switched insurance carriers on my car) the state just suspended my license without telling me, and I happened to find out just because I was on the DHSMV site one day for something else, and used the "check my license" feature. Surprise!

This time my agent and Safeco worked it out with the state. Although I did use the "check my license" feature just to be sure.

I have regular ins. It costs the same as a car, you have to have all regular coverages, including pip, only collision, unless you want it. The key is having the dmv VIN.

I'm legal thanks to all the wonderful posters here on this site.
Went to DMV Compliance Officer located at the Florida State Troopers office in Panama City FL.

Here's how my official paperwork was approved.

1. Bill of Sale with Seller's Address and Price
DESCRIPTION OF PROPERTY BEING SOLD:

GOLF CART
2012 BEIGE CLUB CAR PRECEDENT SERIAL#

MODIFIED WITH:
DOT APPROVED LIGHT KIT- INCLUDES: HEADLIGHT / TAIL LIGHTS/TURN SIGNALS FRONT & REAR/ BRAKE LIGHTS/ HORN / PARKING BRAKE
INTERIOR MIRROR AND DRIVER’S SIDE EXTERIOR MIRROR
DOT APPROVED SEAT BELTS FRONT & REAR SEATS
DOT APPROVED LOW SPEED VEHICLE SIGN
DOT APPROVED RED REFLEX REFLECTORS (ON EACH SIDE AND ON REAR)
REAR LICENSE PLATE BRACKET WITH LIGHT
DOT APPROVED AS4 WINDSHIELD
DOT APPROVED WINDSHIELD WIPER

She asked us one question regarding the seller and where he got some of the parts that he added to the cart and we told her we had no idea, that when we bought it they were all already assembled and we bought it that way. She asked no further questions about that.

2. PICTURE OF BOTH SIDES OF THE GOLF CART

3. WE DID A SPEED CODE CHANGE SO WE INCLUDED THAT RECEIPT

HAD TO PAY TAXES ON THE PRICE SHOWN ON THE BILL OF SALE SINCE NO TAXES WERE PAID ON THE SALE ($16, $45 Inspection price

Officer wanted to complete paperwork for us because she said Tallahassee is picky on paperwork and she would rather do it than have to redo it for us and she looked at the cart. Did not have us remove from trailer. She then placed the vin under the seat on the drivers side which I was disappointed with, because if we every want to change the body or paint it, will have to find out how to get a new vin sticker.

Other than that, everything went great. We felt we were super prepared thanks to all the posters here.

On my DS they put the sticker on the 1" alum bar under the compartment just left of the steering column

My insurance is with allstate $ 63 a year. I could go to full coverage and it would be $ 160 a year. I have only been pulled over one time. The cop had no Idea I was legal after me answering all his questions and giving him paperwork he shook his head and said have a good night

The problem you may run into is the DMV does check insurance coverage, and if you only have "golf cart", not LSV coverage, they will cancel your license. Is has happened to two people I know that are neighbors. This is in Duval County. Jax. Beach.
