questions on 05' Precedent
Just bought an 05' Precedent with 07' batteries. I got it home yesterday and have several questions. I'll number them to keep them straight. Any answers are certainly appreciated.
1. Is it normal for my cart to take off really strong and then feel like a "governor" kicks in and then the speed drops a bit? Top speed levels off but doesn't seems as fast as mid thottle. My dad says his 03'DS cart feels faster. What's the deal? You know I can't have his cart faster than mine! 2. The guy I purchased the cart from programmed the speed setting to #3. I asked him how many settings there are and he told me 3. Is this correct? I've read on this forum about a #4 setting. 3. I've talked to several people about the speed issue. So far I've read several things. 1 guy told me to have the "regin brake" removed from the program or... just get a "Plumquick" motor so that I won't have to worry about programming anymore. Then I read on here about getting an "Alltrax 400" controller and that would get rid of programming issues. When I looked at the Alltrax website, I see they have programming software but can't find a price on the software. Which is correct? I'm definitely confused. Thanks in advance! |

Re: questions on 05' Precedent
Quote:
1 = Yes 2= Yes for code 3 but additional charge of around $100 from a Club car dealer to install Speed code#4 for around 19 MPH. 3= PQ or EMP motor, (I have the PQ,) for speeds around 24MPH+ without a controller or wire change which will also disable your regen braking as in your first question. Controller and cable change to get the most torque out of your motor at low and mid speeds. |

Re: questions on 05' Precedent
Okay one more question. Just ran a gps speed test. I know 7.8 mph can't be normal. Right?
charged batteries overnight charger read 0 this am. took it out front on level street. took off fast and got to 11 mph and then dropped to 7.8 mph and stayed there. Something has to be wrong correct? |

Re: questions on 05' Precedent
I think you may want to start with checking the battery pack voltage. You may have gotten some bad batteries with your cart. First off, did you pop off the battery caps and make sure the water level is topped off? If yes, hook a volt meter across alll the batteries, go for a ride and watch the voltage--if it drops below 48 or 49 while cruising..theres your problem. Dont worry if the voltage drops for a second while accelerating, but once going you should hold over 48 V.

Re: questions on 05' Precedent
11 MPH may be correct for code #3, not sure. Code #4 will give you 19.6 MPH. Regen can be programed off but 19.6 MPH will stay. Not sure why you would drop from 11 to 7.8 on level ground. The Presedent is a good cart, you will like it. You (Dealer) can also program for an aggressive start.

Re: questions on 05' Precedent
We have gotten 2 carts out of Thomasville Ga.(Tracks and Turf) and they were both good. Mechanically speaking I mean--both needed a lot of cleaning but the batteries were good. Ours came from a place on Hawaii--a resort called Kanapalli.
But----why did you ask that? What do I need to know? Do you have a good story? PM it if you don't want to publicly post it |

Not completely sure but...
Speed Code A = 8 Speed Code B = 11 Speed Code C = 14.6 Speed Code 4 = 19.2 You might just have setting A instead of C... |

Re: questions on 05' Precedent
okay.... i tested each battery voltage separate. All batteries test at 12.48 to 12.53 volts. Now, when I checked across all 4 ( i tested from the red wire on the front left battery to the negative on the back right battery) I only get a reading of 37.5 volts. when i run it down the road, the voltage drops to 36.
What this tells me is one battery is not being read? I tried reading the batteries several different ways with the same 37.5 volts. when I add up batteries 1-3 I get 37.5. What's wrong?? by the way, I just talked to my friend who bought one with me yesterday. same year, same model. he gets a reading of 15mph in the grass with 3 people!! |
