Default 2000 DS Series confusion re Pot.

On the controller the resistance between pins 2 (green) and 3 (yellow) would be 5k at rest and 0k at full throttle in forward. (the potentiometer 5k-0). IN REVERSE there is a 5k (half speed) resistor in the circuit, so even at full throttle where the pot. is 0 ohms there is 5k resistance in the circuit. Why does the car even go.
This puzzle is the result of me fitting a Curtis 1204M controller using the same pins as the original 1204 controller and the car will not go in reverse. If you bypass the half speed resistor it goes as fast in reverse as fwd.

Club Car never made a cart with a 5k-0Ω throttle (2-wire), those models used a 3-wire throttle so the 5kΩ resistor in line would reduce the maximum voltage out of the throttle by half.

The only 2-wire throttle made was a 0-5kΩ throttle and you would place a 5kΩ resistor in parallel with the throttle to limit the range to 0-2.5kΩ.

I think it would be easier to convert your throttle to 0-5kΩ setup.

Here is the thread I helped another member achieve reduced speed with a 5k-0Ω setup:
