How to determine if a brake switch is already installed
I recently bought a 2009 Club Car Precedent and have been getting it straightened out. 36 volt had been run to all the lights for some reason. I installed a voltage reducer and rewired the lights thru a terminal strip. Got front and back lights now. Trying to figure out the brake lights now. I do have 3 wire tail lights. I have removed the access panel from the floor to see if someone had installed a retro fit rig. I did not see any mods.. There are no wires coming down from the brake pedal either. All the wires below the access panel are all plugged in to something. I figured if there was no brake lights wired up that there would be open plug ends to tie into. I looked into the MadJaxx kit but they use all the un-connected plugs, but everything under the access panel is connected. I know this is getting long but just looking for a little better understanding of what I might actually have. Thanks

Re: How to determine if a brake switch is already installed
Is there a sending unit hooked up to the hydraulic brake line that activates the brake lights?
Best to consult a wiring diagram for your cart. |

Re: How to determine if a brake switch is already installed
I have a 2009 Precedent. Mid-year 2008 Club Car stopped putting wiring harnesses for head/tail/stop/turn in their carts. After the cutoff to add lights you need a "bucket" harness. There are many light kits for sale. Some are head and tail lights only, some are full sets with stop and turn. I believe most basic kits are upgradeable to add stop and turn. There would be two connectors that branch off the main bucket harness and run to the brake well. There are 2 types of brake actuator, the plunger/spring and pressure pad. In the brake well there would be an actuator with a spring if you don't have a pressure pad on the brake pedal. If you don't have a turn signal lever added to the steering column, the kit likely was not the upgraded kit. Might be the wiring from the bucket harness was stuffed into the groove in the floor going to the dash harness. Hope this helps.

Re: How to determine if a brake switch is already installed
Thanks Seang1989, So if I get the brake light kit from MadJax that has the spring actuated switch and timer and relay do you think I can find the available wires under the access panel to plug all this into?
