cart is "amping" and hardly moving
Hi all, new 98 DS owner here. When I press go pedal in forward or reverse, cart starts to move and then proceeds to stop and produce what I can only describe as an amping or electrical overload noise. I removed and cleaned all cables and have just charged the pack. I am kinda new to this, but possess a digital VOM and take instruction cheerfully !

Re: cart is "amping" and hardly moving
need more info , Serial # , 36 volt or 48 , if 36 , resistor cart or controller.....
but first measure the pack voltage at rest then leave it hook up so you can watch it when it starts "amping".... |

Re: cart is "amping" and hardly moving
Sorry about the lack of info. serial # A9843-708523, 48 volt. All cells read fully charged with hydrometer. The pack reads 48.6 v at rest. depressing the go pedal causes it to drop to 45v and cart starts to move and the amping or jumping takes over. Sounds like the motor is not getting proper voltage.

Re: cart is "amping" and hardly moving
Not much charge in the pack. 50.9v is fully charged.
On a Series cart it will do that when the voltage goes low and the demand (load) is high. |

Pack is shot , 48 volts is a dead pack....may not be the only issue but its one of them...

Re: cart is "amping" and hardly moving
make sure your meter is right and that it's fully charged and allowed to stabilize.
48.6 is too low, if that's what it ends up it's probably the batteries but make sure it doesn't have a short drawing them down. |

Re: cart is "amping" and hardly moving
Well, here is the latest in the saga...… borrowed a much better vom, charged the pack and came up with 50.6 volts. got both rear wheels off the ground and it works smoothly up to top end in fwd and reverse. I realize there is virtually no load, but at least I think it verifies all wiring is correct (?) happened to read about solenoid checks and saw where they say resistance across main contacts should be .1 to .4 ohms-checked mine and got 1.2 ohms. Any thoughts ?

Dead batteries?
What is the battery pack voltage at the moment when the tires are on the ground, you try to go but, the cart will not move? What is the pack voltage right then when your trying to go and the cart wont move... |

Re: cart is "amping" and hardly moving
After charging, pack reads 50.6 v-turn key on 48.6 v . As you press accelerator, voltage drops to 35v at full speed. Just after starting, motor starts to shudder. This happens with cart on blocks or on the ground. On the ground, cart is barely crawling... Am I about to make a large donation to Sam's Club ?
