Default New Trojan Batteries - Date Code etc

Hello -

I had a new set of Trojan T-875s put in one of my golf carts this week and in cleaning around them a bit I noticed that the negative terminal splash where the date code lives was covered in a reddish coating. I cleaned it off with acetone but there wasn't a date code engraved.
Has Trojan changed their method of date coding their batteries? According to their website, it is still supposed to be on the negative side terminal splash. On the red coating, it seems like I have seen that before on new batteries but po folk don't get to buy new batteries often so I can't remember.
Anyone know where the date code has been moved to?... or the purpose of this red coating?

Thank you in advance... Pepe

The red stuff is an anti-corrosive spray. It is common to spray it on the terminals after the cables are connected so that they are not exposed to air, which slows down the chance of corrosion.

As far as the date codes, you should see something like “D9” (Month 4 of 2019 or 2009) in the terminals somewhere.

The batteries were manufactured July 22, 2019, the finished code should have been stamped on the negative battery post.

I have also saw no date code on the Trojan 12v from an EZGO RXV, on more than one occasion. You have the MOTIVE line (Red Horse), these are the same type that i have seen without a code

You guys are referring to the finish date code (when battery was activated) the date on stickers is bogus since it refers to when they think those batteries will reach retail floor and typically are 2 or 3 months in the future.

The engraved code he shows is when it was actually manufactured, 7/22/2019.

I have several sets of Trojan batteries from the last couple years and none of them have codes stamped in the terminals. I think they may have stopped doing that on some batteries about two years ago.

They are now marking the case with a longer manufacture code or batch code seen in the pics above in between the posts.

I gotta tell you, you guys are good. Can you educate me and tell me how you came up with the date of July 22, 2019?

I have a set of 8V Trojans that have the stamp on the Negative Terminal of K8.
November 2018.
I don't have a picture of the stamp on the terminal on my phone, but I do have this picture of what I think is the serial number.
