Adding Turn Signal
So I already have head lights and tail lights with brake lights and horn, the only think I need is a turn signal. I don't know what brand my existing lights are but here are some pics of the back of the head light and wiring. Anyone have any idea what I can get to just add the turn signal? I am including a picture of the cart as well, I like the look of these headlights as there are no holes drilled into the cowling. Any help would be appreciated!

Re: Adding Turn Signal
First of all here's your photo up the right way.
I can't tell from that photo if you have any sort of indicator arm or other switch meant for indicators. Do you? If so you will trace your wires from it. Otherwise you will need to add an indicator switch. If you've never had indicators before you will also need a flasher unit (these come in two terminal or three terminal versions) and you will need to add light bulbs to the sockets on the outside of your lights (to light the amber parts of the lights). Let me know what you've already got and I'll go into more detail. |

Re: Adding Turn Signal
I do not have an indicator arm or indicator switch currently. How’d you get my photo to flip? I tried three times and couldn’t get it! Thanks!

So, you will need an indicator switch, a flasher unit and bulbs (& sockets) for your lights (or separate lights) and wiring. Indicator switch: You can buy a proper turn signal arm to attach to the steering column (I got one on eBay for mine) or you can just use a double pole, double throw switch mounted on the dash. Lights: Which flasher unit you get will depend on what your lights are (incandescent globes or LEDs). If you want to use your existing lights (where the amber part is) you will need to fit a socket behind the amber cover with a globe in it). Alternately you can fit additional lights for the flashers. If you do that I suggest you just buy amber truck clearance lights (LEDs). These are a dime-a-dozen on eBay. Flasher Unit: Get the right one for the lights. If the lights are LEDs then make sure you get an electronic flasher unit that is meant for LEDs. Wire it all up as per the diagram that I posted earlier. |

Re: Adding Turn Signal
This is very helpful for the front but how do I connect the rear? There is only one bulb from what I can tell in my rear lights....

Re: Adding Turn Signal
You could add some truck clearance lights like I did with mine (see the picture). I mounted them on the roof and just ran the wires down the rear roof supports and onto my flasher switch. That picture was taken before the wires were tucked away down the supports.
I can post more pictures if you like. |

Re: Adding Turn Signal
So i have all my parts and accessories but I am confused how do I run the ground? Do I need to run a separate ground for each of the 4 turn signal lights? I bought a 30 Amp 48-12v reducer, fuse panel I plan to install for this and other accessories, I bought marker lights, and found bulbs that fit the stock turn signal for the front. I have my turn signal switch and flasher, just need to know where and how to ground the individual lights. THANKS!!

Re: Adding Turn Signal
The negative from each light goes back to your negative bus (your fuse panel will probably be like the first attachment with a bunch of terminals for positives, each one fused, and a bunch of terminals for negatives, each connected together).
Join the negatives from each light at the rear and then run a single negative from them back to the negative bus. Do the same at the front. Do not be tempted to connect the negatives to the chassis as you would in a car. The diagram I drew for mine is as per the second attachment. Treat the 48V circuits and the 12V circuits are two completely different things. All 12V positives and negatives go back to the reducer (preferably through the distribution board). |

Re: Adding Turn Signal
Ok I finally got around to wiring this thing up, I pretty much followed the instructions from you guys and the box wiring diagram. The only thing I don't know what to do is with the red wire indicated on the box that came with my indicator switch that says it goes to the stoplight switch hot wire?
