Default 97 Club Car DS running intermintently

Hello all, I have a 48v club car that is having an intermintent electrical problem. The cart will run fine for about 5 minutes and then when i stop it will shut down and will not run. Occasionaly it will run, but more often i have had to tow, push cart back. Not really sure where to start, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Batteries are fully charged.
Controller is a Buggies Unlimitied BU -700
OBC Lester Electrical p/n 19190-88
Motor Advanced Motors and Drives p/n 7114. GN1-4001

Without knowing more about the cart, my first suspect would be the controller or solenoid.

What happens when it shuts down? Do you hear the main contactor (solenoid) click behind the seat? Do you get all loss of power (switch, accessories, etc.)? How old are the items I mentioned above.

Needs lots more info to help you out....

Thanks for the reply NoleFan!
I am not getting the solenoid "click" when it quits, accessories work and battery level gage works.
Not sure of the age of the items since I just bought it back in March.
Thanks again.

This is a Series cart correct? (FNR Directional Lever and not a Fwd/Rev Rocker switch)

When it is in the "stalled" condition, take your DVM/VOM and with the key On, in Forward, and Go Pedal depressed (jack the cart up on one side), probe between the Black and White wire at the main contactor (solenoid) and the Main Pack Negative battery terminal for your 48v positive supply. If it is not present, back track to the FNR and micro-switches, then to the V-glide, and back up to the key switch until you find the loss. If it is present, then probe between the small Yellow wire at the opposite side of the solenoid and the Main Pack Positive battery terminal for your 48v negative supply. If it is not present, then run a jumper from the main pack negative over to the solenoid and determinate it where the small Yellow wire is now. If it is present, tap on the solenoid as it is stuck or has a failed field coil.

Checked cart today and couldnt get the problem to repeat, GRRR. Jacked the cart up and checked wiring, everything looked and felt good except the output side on the secondary circuit of the soleniod, it was a little loose so I decided to tighten it, when i put the wrench on the terminal the top portion of the soleniod would rotate. HMMM, that doesnt seem right so i have removed it and ordered a replacement.
I will keep you posted after the soleniod is reinstalled.
Thanks again for the help, KP

Yup, that would be an issue. And if it was building heat and transferring it to the controller at B+, it will shut down on high heat protection.

Ok, so replaced the soleniod and cart worked fine Friday running around testing it out. Tried running today and ran fine for about 10 minutes and the it shut off while running, got towed dack to house and parked it. Had to cook dinner so it will probably be fine in the am. But if not i will start the trouble shooting steps or hopefully run until it fails at the house. Thinking something might be overheating?
Mam oh man, what a pain, just break will ya!
