Default Upgrading to solid state from resistor coils

My first cart. I purchased a 97 CC DS that still has resistor coils. The OBC has been removed and I have a reconditioned Plum Quick motor. The motor says it’s 36V. I have a back seat, 4” lift and 22” tall wheels. Battery pack is 48V, six 8v (five are Trojan one is Autocraft). I mostly drive it around a neighborhood with a few hills that are a challenge but otherwise it does well. At present I can probably get 18-21mph on a flat road.

I’m looking at pulling the coils and vglide to swap in: 1. Controller, 2. upgraded solenoid, 3. new FnR, 4. New “gas” pedal, 5. Lower gauge wires (4 or 2awg?) Not necessarily looking for more speed but I wouldn’t mind, a little more torque to get up the hills would be nice. Mainly looking to get more life out of the charge so I don’t heat things up and waste power on the coils.

Need some advice. Can anyone tell me if my motor will be a problem if I convert to solid state? Am I missing any parts for the conversion? Am I on the right track? Can someone share their experience and possibly make/model #s for the parts used if they did the same?

You are definitely on the right track. I’m assuming you already know about Scotty at carts unlimited? Definitely the go to place for a conversion kit.

Your resistor cart likely didn’t ever have an OBC, it probably had an Accu power charger.

You will love the upgrade though, I would go with the SR48400 or 500 if your cart is lifted.
