battery have crazy smell

Hello all golf cart lovers,
I have a 2002 off road clubcar.I have been noticing that after driving it on regular road after 10 minutes I smell a bad odor! Like Rotten eggs as they say! I just cleaned my connections and it still smells wierd.I hope there is a rescue for my trojan batteries! Thank you for excepting my question!

They seem pretty new.I bought the cart in 2005.But it was not new.I think its a 2002 not sure.I will chk today.but you said a motor?what kind of motor?

Normally the rotten egg smell is from batteries that are being overcharged or low on water. Yours might be bad battery connections, heating up under load or motor brushes.

Okay thank you for your input! I will do a check on it! So if I am over charger it,more than 24 hrs is bad?? Thanks again

If it is taking 24 hours to charge the batteries you have some bad batteries or connections, etc. I would start by checking all connwections then check all cells at least with a hydrometer. Check age of Trojans by looking on neg. post pad. Letter is month and number is year. If you bought it used in 05 your batteries are probably the problem. Good luck, new batteries will blow a big hole in the beer budget!!

You will smell it more if your batteries are boiling and being overcharged but hydrogen gas smell is normal. (ALL lead acid batteries produce hydrogen gas.) You have some cable/connection issues somewhere or possibly a bad battery. 10-12 hours should be more than enough time to fully charge a completely dead pack.

You Not only have bad batteries the charger is Bad it should not stay on more than 16
hours then shut itself off .
