Default Frame Cleaning?

I recently posted that I had acquired my first cart. A project 1998 DS. I just finished tearing it down and hitting it with the pressure washer. Since I am doing a close to total rebuild on this, I would love to get the frame as clean as possible. In my previous browsing I am pretty sure I heard someone make mention of acid washing the aluminum frame. Is this such a thing? If so how is it done? Anybody have other thoughts on getting an old frame nice and clean? Joe

Hey Joe,

Use a product called alumabrite the same stuff can be found in aluminum wheel cleaner either will work well.

I cleaned and polished a frame on one my builds it turned out great! With the huge lift that went on the cart you could see alot of the frame.

Thanks! Ya know the crazy part is it only took a couple hours to do the visible parts. I was doing it all by hand then. I now have a buffer/finish sander it would only take few minutes!
