Default Regen and roll away braking

Still trying to understand those. Someone made me aware that they don't work if it's in tow mode so I tried it going downhill from my house and literally said to myself "ahhh, this is what I want." I want the normal roll speed without the accelerator instead of it being like someone sitting beside me that's crazy on the brake pedal. What good is regen if the brakes keep being applied and takes away from the "free ride" of free rolling? Actually "what I want" is to have those but to not disturb my driving.
I took it on a steep hill on the road and got it to go to 56 something on the meter but then it stops the cart rather quickly. If I try to find some balance going down the hill using the accelerator it only goes up maybe 1-2V and is still too slow going down the hill. Going down the hill at my house with sharp curves etc. I actually hear brakes squealing on and off lurching forward and slowing continually as I'm trying to go or slow. I also found that when I'm driving on the road, or anywhere, the brake lights keep going on and off. Is this all normal?

ahhhh, you do know the brakes are not being applied by the regen system right? You got more issues if your hearing brakes squeal and your not applying the brakes.

just got back from trying to jump a truck with it and I was thinking I should have said "sounds like a wounded sea gull" and my neighbors know when I'm coming. Only does the squeal when I start out but I was sure they still keep coming on.
Not sure if I thought that but I thought the systems work together or something or maybe I can't tell which is brakes and which is regen. I had the hub off where the sound was coming from and the shoes are good. The hand brake does drag just a little too much. I need to see if I can get the cable freed better or have to get a new one.

I think you are confusing roll away braking with regen braking. The regen can be turned down so you can free wheel down hill to a point. My cart will not roll freely if I release the park brake, but if I press the pedal a little it will roll quite fast.(never checked speed) I have the regen turned to mildest setting.

Yes, I don't know which is braking or dramatically slowing the cart when I let off of the accelerator. Even if it were the regen alone it's very touchy and it's hard to find a place on the pedal where it's just smooth riding or maybe I just naturally move my foot small amounts without thinking about it like driving a car. Is it supposed to use any kind of braking while moving other than regen? Does regen make the brake lights come on?

edit, And btw, I doubt there is any government road that would have a hill steep enough that it wouldn't just stop when you let off. The hill I tried it on is probably as steep as they are allowed in the US and was going maybe 25 mph or more. The regen "regens" but it soon stops too when you let off.

Normally the regen will not turn on brake lights. They can be set up to work like that but they don't come that way.

What year is your cart?

Just wanted to be sure we were not talking about regen 1or2. I would have the regen set to milder setting.

He's got a Carryall 6 LSV with an AC Drive system. The reason I haven't chimed into any of his posts to help him is because I've never seen one so I don't know anything at all about them.

yes, I found out right off the bat that it's a strange bird. It has a german motor with german text and apparently no speed sensor you can readily get to unless it's somewhere else.
