Kind of confused
since im kinda getting back into using my cart more i have a question
Its a 89ds, 700amp controller, D&D motor, with a vglide now ive read you can get rid of the vglide and it has its advantages How is this established .. iv read about MCORS and Solidstates? Im no expert here.. ive tried searching around and had a few things pop up but can someone bust it down for me in simpler terms lol which would be better and why.. or do i even worry about it.. Ive had my cart for 2 years and the electronics on it are over 15 years old and really dont show any visual wear.. ive put on a bigger solenoid and wires obviously but everything else appears fine |

Re: Kind of confused
The name VGlide when used in conjunction with a Controller like You have is really a Multi Step Potentiometer.
That means that are individual resistors inside the Vglide that get switched on or off as you press the pedal. The signal output on a VGlide varies in "steps" with each resistor and depending on your setup it may cause torque bumps as you press the pedal, specially at lower speeds. The MCOR or a PB-6 throttle will provide a continuous output signal as You press the pedal so typically it is smoother at low speed. If an MCOR conversion is available for your cart or a PB-6 setup like ScottyB used to sell, it would be best since it would work directly with your controller existing throttle setting. ScottyB now sells a Hall-Effect conversion throttle that has a 0-5v output and will only work with your controller if You can change the throttle settings which I don't think the old GE 700 amp controller supports. A new Alltrax Controller will work with any of the above throttles. |

It is pretty jerky right from the get go .. i can hear the solenoid click on and it dosnt move so im guessing that first resistor is bad .. the next one kicks in and it kicks in hard lol cart always wants to pull a wheel up Was looking for something more smooth |

Re: Kind of confused
I converted mine from v-glide to the MCOR unit for the same reason. So much smoother now. I sourced my conversion kit from Dave at Revolution Golf Cars. I'm gald I did it. Install was easy and all parts were included in the kit. Not sure if it fits your application, but I'm sure Dave can answer that question for you.

Re: Kind of confused
Definitely sounds like one or more of the resistors in your V-glide is open.
I don't know if the MCOR conversion kit works as a bolt-in kit for a cart that old, but it seems to me there was a thread a while ago that someone installed the kit in a 90 or 91 and made some minor mods to one of the brackets or the linkage rod to get it to fit, and it was working for them. So it is at least do-able. The V-Glide resistors are not terribly difficult to replace, and you could rebuild the whole thing for much less than what an MCOR kit costs. |
