Cart no longer moves, immediately after just moving
Yeah, confusing title I know.
1999 Club Car DS 48V. I was just moving it onto the trailer and it stops. Reversed it out of the garage and right to the ramp but was off a little. Went forward, then lined it back up. Press the pedal, nothing. Huh? I had just topped it off, 53v, ready for the Sunday drive. turned the key, press the pedal, hear the solenoid click, but now it goes no where after just moving at least 30 feet. Hooked up the laptop to the Alltrax controller. I can see throttle position move. I can see I see Battery voltage of 53v, and when I step on the gas I see somewhere around 12v of voltage to the motor at about 50% throttle. I also see no other red flags in the monitoring. It looks like it wants to go, but nothing, I hear nothing after the solenoid clicks. Forward and Reverse engage the solenoid, Neutral does not. Seems odd it would move, and then just quit. Any ideas? |

Re: Cart no longer moves, immediately after just moving
OBC failure? Its pretty much the only thing I did not replace on this cart. All the rest is upgraded, and tested thoroughly. Been putting in 20 mile trips and having no issues. No idea how that would make it not move, just reaching at this point
Ill get back out there this weekend to check connections, but nothing seemed loose to the motor itself. Kinda where I figured the issue to be, but nothing looked disconnected or loose. Ill be testing voltage to the motor itself, just to see if connections suck. The Alltrax controller says its putting volts to it. I find it hard to believe the motor went to hell, its only months old. So, hoping its a loose connection! |

Re: Cart no longer moves, immediately after just moving
The micro-switches on the shifter are making as you got the solenoid to engage. The OBC must be ok as that is where you are getting the Neg from to the others side of the solenoid.
I know you said you saw volts going to the motor, but barring a bad connection somewhere, I would still check the solenoid large posts. Key on and pedal not depressed you should see .5 to 1.5 volts across the large posts. When you have it in Fwd and depress the pedal, the voltage across the posts should drop to 0 volts. |

I just got out and tested the solenoid.
With the leads connected, key on, the posts register about 1.7v In Reverse, depress the pedal and its 0.3mv. |

I also checked the Zener diode that is on the solenoid since I had previously hooked that up backwards. Positive lead on the positive side, and negative lead on the negative side with the key on showed 1.5mv. Depress the pedal and it shows 49.5V.
Another thing I noticed that is out of the ordinary is when I first sat in this cart this morning, I put it in reverse and hit the gas to see if it had magically fixed itself after sitting a week. It did not, but the battery light did come on, which never happens. The pack currently has a charge of 50.9v. But, it is also freezing at night here lately. |

Re: Cart no longer moves, immediately after just moving
Well, I figured it out, and it was something visibly obvious
Theres 4 lines running to the F/R switch. The welding wire slid right out of the connector and was just laying there loose. Pulled the connector, got out the impact crimper and crimped that connector HARD. Now both forward and reverse both work. Yet another one of the easier golf cart lessons learned I guess. One issue after fixing that, no more reverse buzzer. Its kind of nice, but Ill still track that down another time. |

Re: Cart no longer moves, immediately after just moving
My 99 DS moves very slow with new batteries. I replaced the FNR but they didn't come with any micro switches, so i used the three old ones. This cart does have a controller.
Once I connected the new FNR, the wheels spun fast like they should, but once I mounted the FNR to the cart it went back to being slow. The voltage at the FNR is 50v. When I hit the gas pedal it only shows 37v? Any suggestions? |
