New batteries die quick
My 2010 48 volt Club car has 2018 Crown 8 volt batteries that show 50.1 for a full charge. I just purchased this cart and I don't believe the other owner was charging the batteries is there anything I can do?

Re: New batteries die quick
Charge them and run a short bit and charge them and run it a short bit, then repeat, repeat........oh - check the water before you start.
If you are lucky after several back to back cycles with little draw-down the pack will reactivate some of the stagnant elements and make a bit more power. |

Re: New batteries die quick
Thanks that's what I've been trying to do but after maybe 4 miles or so the battery meter will start flashing and the cart will start not wanting to take the throttle but the batteries will still show 47.4 volts across the pack and each battery will show around 7.6 to 7.8 and the water level is good.

Re: New batteries die quick
Thanks I can get close to the right voltage for 100 percent charge mine is still only 50.1 to 50.3. Then it will only last 5 to 6 miles and it will be around the 30 percent voltage reading.

Re: New batteries die quick
This hasn't come up in a while but you could possibly only be charging 5 of the batteries. This happens when the red wire from the charger is connected to the neg of the first battery instead of the pos terminal. Take a picture of the battery compartment and post it.

Re: New batteries die quick
It's hooked up correctly all batteries read 8.4 or so when charged. I checked the wiring diagram to make sure also

Re: New batteries die quick
I've read that when I plug my charge to the cart it should take a couple seconds to start then run a few cut off and start again is this correct I'm using a power drive 3 charger?

Re: New batteries die quick
The OBC only performs that test sequence if the cart has been driven since the last time.
If You just disconnect the charger plug and plug it back after 1 minute or more without driving it goes straight to charge. I would suggest You disconnect the pack negative cable for more than 10 minutes to allow the OBC to reset. After 10 minutes connect the pack negative cable back and plug the charger, it will take longer to charge as the OBC is doing a different type of algorithm to establish the pack baseline condition. |
