Battery Question
I just bought a club car for my wife and kids for Christmas. Batteries were just replaced in February 2019. I’m storing it in a garage where it won’t be used until Christmas Day. Will the batteries be fine until then?

Re: Battery Question
If the battery is working now and you had a battery maintenance before you store it and if you connect it to a working charger till then it should be fine assuming you have lead acid battery. Congrats on your family cart.

Re: Battery Question
From what I understand they have been maintained but I need to keep them on charger for the entirety of the two months?

If the garage has power available, plug the charger in when you park it and everything should be fine at Christmas. Your charger should shut off on it's own when the batteries are fully charged and leaving it plugged in won't hurt anything. Post what charger you have so we can tell for sure. |

Re: Battery Question
Like Hand Tools said, we need to know what kind of charger you have. Brand and a Model number or part number off the label.
The standard Club Car charger can be plugged in and left that way during storage, but that does not mean you should ignore the cart for 2 months and hope for the best when you finally decide to take it out of storage. It's not a crock pot, "set it and forget it" does Not apply here. You need to check the water levels in the batteries, and check the pack voltage at regular intervals, about once every 2-3 weeks is usually fine, to be sure the charger is working properly and the batteries do not go dry. Before storing the cart check the water level in the batteries. Most batteries should have the water level about 1/4" - 3/8" above the top of the plates. Top up any cells that have a low water level with Distilled or De-ionized water. Do Not use tap water or spring water as the minerals in normal water an damage the plates in the battery. Clean the batteries before storage. Wash any dirt and dust off of the tops, and make sure all of the cable ends and battery posts are clean and have no corrosion. Treat them with an anti-corrosion spray or apply silicone grease to prevent corrosion during storage. It's also a good idea to prop the seat up, or remove it so the battery area has good ventilation. If you are storing the cart in a garage without power, Charge the battery pack fully before storage, Flip the Tow/ Run switch to Tow if it has one, and then disconnect the packs Main negative and positive cables. With the pack disconnected you should be able to store it for 6-8 weeks without needing a re-charge during that time. When you take the cart back out of storage, reconnect the cables and then connect the charger and re-charge the pack fully before using the cart. |

It’s not letting me post any photos because I haven’t been a member for 30 days but I charged the batteries fully before disconnecting and will go with that. Thanks everyone for the info! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Battery Question
If your batteries are disconnected then, obviously, there is no point in plugging the charger in.
With regard to "set it and forget it" I wish it was that easy for me. My carts are a couple of hours away and there is no way to routinely check the water levels. I just give them a little extra water, plug them in and hope for best come spring. I have internet at the camp, though. One of you rocket-scientist cart guys should invent a "smart" golf cart water level app so that will tell me if my water levels are getting low. I am pretty smart. Just not that smart. |

https://alpinepowersystems.com/motiv...el-indicators/ Someone as smart as Sergio might me able to take the output from one of the last three sensors on that page and feed it to a module which will phone a warning to a pre-set number when the water level indicator is triggered. That would be an interesting project. |
