Default 2000 DS Speed and Torque Expectations

All,

I purchased a 2000 DS, 48V with a CC 3.75 hp motor (series) and a 300A Curtis controller (all stock, see details listed below). I have new Trojans Batteries and new 8" tires (properly inflated).

Cart seems to run well, but uphill speeds a little slow (15MPH on the flat and 10MPH uphill, med grade, just me in the cart). I installed a volt meter and batteries dip only about a volt on a uphill and quickly recover on the flat. Do these results seem reasonable?

Flats speeds ok, but I'd like a little more speed on the uphill as I live in a hilly area. Is there anything simple I can do to help to a add a couple more MPHs on the uphill? Perhaps reprogramming the controller?

From my research, it seems I need more torque vs more speed. So a new 400 amp controller, new solenoid and perhaps thicker gauge wiring would help. What could I reasonably expect with these upgrades and keeping the 3.75 HP motor?

Thanks in advance for all replies!

The most you could get is what you see on flat. But that would be a stretch with a stock motor. You may have to upgrade to a torque motor next...
