I used to have a problem with clearing my left ear way back when and yes they did help a bunch.

My Dad has a lot of trouble with both ears, to the point he didn't finish certification. His ears even hurt for a couple days after he flies.

Well I believe the word Painful could be the common denominator here in this thread... Such a painful decision one might have in making the decision to kill the backup beeper... so instead of making that decision just let your ear wax buildup to the point of being painful... thus cancelling out the noise of the beeper...

There... problem solved!
