Hi all, battery and tire help

Hey everyone, its nice to be part of the community.
We just bought a Club car Ds Iq 2005 model for $1600, it is wonderful condition, a local wholesaler sold it to us, it is in excellent condition, he sells many of them.
So yea, after a long wait, it was delivered today, and I took it up to the course.
One thing, when I drove, the tires seemed to make a fla fla sound, does this usually mean that the tired need a little more air? Im pretty sure thats all it is, the brake pads and cables are new, and the tire is still in excellent condition.
Another question, I put it up on the charger, and it started making a "charging" noise when I plugged the cable into the cart, does this indicate charging? How can I be sure when the cart is charging? Also, is there any way to tell when the battery is fully charged?
Another thing, should I always put distilled water into the cart after the battery has been charged?
Sorry for the stupid questions, but the cart is my step dads, im gonna be using it alot, and as you know, it can be pretty expensive to repair a cart when its not taken care of, and I really want to take care of it.

At the top of the forum you will find STICKY's that have some great info like battery maintenance.

Does your charger have an amp meter on the front? It should tell you that your batteries are charging by the amps (along with a humming noise from the charger) and as they charge the amps will drop and when fully charged the charger will shut off.

Not sure about the tires, but IMO, I would check the pressure and inflate them properly.

Thank you gsf, I have read the sticky, it says things about cleaning the battery and all, the reason we have a misunderstanding is because my cart is at the golf course shed charging. If I remember correctly, the charger had the dial to the right, and it was making a humming noise. Do you know the exact tire pressure that would work well for the club car ds iq?
Also, sorry for this dumb question, but is the 2005 Club Car Ds Iq a 48 volt car, or a 36 volt car? Im pretty sure it is a 48 volt, but there are always exceptions to what you might believe to be true. Thanks again :D

Dial to the right on first starting the charger is correct along with the humming. ALL tires have on their sidewall a MAX tire pressure setting/PSI. Mine are NOT stock tires and have a MAX PSI of 20 but I keep them at 18 for a bit softer ride with less bounce.

Oh and your IQ should be 48 volts.

We had a tire making a thumping noise and after checking it out discovered a lump on the tread area, so we just replaced the tire and the noise went away. You may need to look at the tread area and see if there are any irregularities.

Hey again everyone, I finally went to the course to see the cart again, the whole sound issue is probably brake pads rubbing, as they are new, or the tire pressure is uneven. Unfortunately the cart died after 16 holes because the storage unit had a power surge, and so the cart's charger shut off (disruption in the power). So tomorrow I will finally get to play a complete round with it.

Always add distilled water and check the level regularly, every 4 or 5 days. Do not add excessive water. The level of the water should cover the plates.

The charger usually has an ammeter with a scale 0-25 Amps or 0-20 Amps. when you plug the charger on the vehicle the indication will be high as long the batteries are charged the indication of the ammeter lowers and goes toward zero. The charger of club cars goes to zero and shuts off the power automatically.

Hey ademetra, I did get the battery charged finally, it lasted me about 27 holes, it is a 29th week of 2005 battery, is that amount of charge expected? We are thinking of getting some trojan 8 volts to replace these old trojan 8 volts, but if these last then it should be ok for at least 2 more years.

If one charge lasted 27 holes, I believe is good enough. When the batteries are getting old will last less and less holes. Make sure that you add distilled water regularly and that the charger is shutting off by itself. Otherwise there is a possibility the batteries will overheated.
