cart wont climb hills
after letting batts charge overnight, maybe longer. it acts like a fully charged cart, but won't go up the hills like it used to. i know the batteries aren't old. we bought the cart new, replaced cables, and cleaned out batteries and batt mounts. ran fine till a couple days ago.
also this is my first post, so heyy!!! |

Re: cart wont climb hills
It climbed hills after you changed out the cables? Then this started later? TIme to load test the batteries. You may have one weak one?

Re: cart wont climb hills
club car '03 and should be a DS model, don't feel like checking if it'd a DS or not, but shouldn't be any difference.
i think i changed the cables after i took it out last time, the guy we bou8ght it from said he load tested the batteries, and they were good. can't remember exactly how he said it was all done, basically he told me they weren't brand spanking new, but good. i let it charge overnight and during school today, found the charger turned off like it should be, but cart just doesn't have the get up and go power like i know it should. also i am familiar with a volt meter but by no means an electrician. i work on trucks, and stay away from electrics. each battery was reading 8.somethin volts, oh shoot i just realized i had it on DC though. oops |

Re: cart wont climb hills
Dont rule out the batteries so fast. One bad battery would do just what you are describing. If you have a bad battery dropping in voltage when trying to accelerate, your total battery voltage drops and hence...a complete lack of power, but the good batteries left in the pack will maintain a low voltage, which will move the cart, just not so quickly.
One easy way to find a weak link(battery) is to do a comparison test. fully charge batteries and then let car sit for hour or so for voltages to stabilize. Check each battery voltage with your meter individually(can be done while they are all hooked together) on each batteries pos. and neg. terminals and make a chart and write them down. Now do the same thing and do a mid throttle acceleration (or powerbrake it for a couple seconds) and watch how low the voltage drops while on the gas and powering the cart. Again make a chart and write it down. Look for any major differences in the voltages of each individual battery. This is a poor mans form of a load test. If all the batteries are good, I would say all the readings would be within a couple tenths of each other. A 1/2 volt difference is dramatic. If i missed something, someone please chime in Scotty posted this chart before...its very important http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...-readings.html |

Re: cart wont climb hills
have to agree don,t rule out the batteries all it takes is one.........keep in mind top speed is 12 mph and on inclines its not uncommon for the cart to slow down pretty good........................check those batteries, load test them and check cells with a hydrometer......write the voltage #,s down and post them we,ll be able to tell from there..............................
