03 Club Car

Hello -- I'm a new member hoping to pick up some good info on Club Cars. Live in The Villages FL where the main form of transportation for shopping and going places is the golf cart. I impulse bought a used Club thinking that I wouldn't use it much since we go back and forth to PA. I didn't even know at the time that the seat lifts up to check batteries. One set of new batteries and other work later-- I've learned a lot from my mistake. Anyone have any ideas on how best to store a cart for 3 or 4 months over the summer? Herb

Best if you can have someone run it a little and charge it atleast once a month......

Some may disagree...

But what I do during the winter months in WI. is:

First check the water level in all of the batteries, then fully charge the cart,
After it's charged, disconnect the charger for 5 minutes,
Then... plug the charger back in again, until it shuts off again
when it's done charging the second time, remove the charger, and put the run/tow switch in "TOW"
and disconnect the 2 main positive and negative cables from the whole pack, and your stored!

Welcome. We might as well be neighbors. If you like I will borrow it from you and exercise it for you!!

You will get some good information here, but some more info on the cart will help (ie: year, model, voltage).

Thanks for the advice. Maybe I'll try the charge and disconnect of the terminals for storage. Its a 2003 remanufactured club-- so far I've had to buy new batteries, get the charger repaired and what my maintenance service (it was recommended so I hope they're honest) call annual maintenance. Its fast but now it squeals every once in a while when accelerating. I wish i could find some source showing the engine and other components so that I have some basic understanding ogf what my maint guy will be recommending. thanks again.

best thing to do is buy yourself the service manual you won,t regret it, now some may disagree with me here but if your storing it for 4 months tops in the summer i wouldn,t worry much at all............if it has a run/tow switch i would put it in tow and i would top off the batteries with distilled water than disconnect the main positve battery cable and main negitive cable and slap some vasiline over the terminals and leave it at that................now as per the service manual you can leave the charger plugged in and it will cycle on and off as needed but being so far away i don,t reccomend that unless you have someone who can look in at it every few weeks...............bottom line is you don,t have to get carried away.............i have let carts sit 4 to 5 months thur the winter here in PA............you don,t go to holiday camplands do you? anyways i charge the carts in late november and in april i can jump on them and drive them before i have to put charger on.................so 4 months tops in summer should be a peice of cake...............................

My CC dealer is actually the one that told me to disconnect the batteries for storage!
Being, that he has over 100 electric carts in his yard,
removing, and storing, and reinstalling 4 to 600 batteries would be "out of the question"

Getting a Maintenance Service manual for your cart, will be a good investment!

I am a bit curious about the "squeeling" though?

OK so here's my offer----right after im done mowing your lawn, I will drive your cart to to the Square , get good and drunk, and then drive the cart back to your garage(hopefully) I can do this every week for ya!!
