Default Motor upgrade

I'm new to this forum and glad to be here.
I have a 1988 club car (yes its old) and just upgraded the 36 volt motor to a 48 volt motor and changed all 5 solenoids to 48v however, it will not go beyond the 3rd gear and overheats when i try to run it. I am assuming I need to change other electrical components.

Anyone with knowledge in this area that could give me some pointers on what else I need to do would be greatly appreciated.

you did it wrong , you want to run a 36 volt motor on 48 volts …..

it will be expensive to convert to solid state but you can check here....

https://www.cartsunlimited.net/conversion-kits.html

did you put 48 volts of batteries in it ?

Correct.... The voltage (or lack there of) is causing the heat.

6-8v batteries will fit right in there! But you will need longer battery cables.

The cable set is the same for 6/6v and 6/8v in the CC DS carts.
