Wire Gauge
Anyone know what gauge the typical wires are on a 2001 Club Car DS? I will be upgrading all the heavy duty wires that go to the motor, F/R switch, etc... I think those are factory 6 gauge. I am referring the normal wires that are in wire harness, etc...
Just wanna have some on hand this weekend for the installation of the electrical components. |

Re: Wire Gauge
all the battery cables are 6 ga from the factory . when up grading most people go with 4 ga , if you are going to have a 500 amp controller or bigger then you should use 2 ga.

Re: Wire Gauge
Use 16ga for everything else except the key switch power that should be 14ga.

Re: Wire Gauge
Thanks. I have all of my 4 gauge wiring for the big stuff. I was referring to the small wires from the harness, etc... I have seen that I may need to add some pieces of wire in case some are too short for the new setup.

Re: Wire Gauge
Correct me if I'm wrong gurus, but shouldn't it be 10 ga. from charger receptacle to batteries/controller?

I see on the wiring diagram that there should be a green wire from the key switch to the large post on top of the solenoid, but my factory solenoid didn't have this green wire. So where else should I look for the key switch power wire? |

Re: Wire Gauge
Was the original cart a Series cart (big lever FNR)?
All Series carts power the key switch directly from the Solenoid big post thru a Green wire. The Key switch Blue wire is the output or "switched power". |

Re: Wire Gauge
Yes. Originally a series cart with the big F/R lever. However there was no key switch wire on the factory solenoid.
