Default Crowfoot plug won’t fit

I just purchased a new a new 48v charger for my club car ds. The plug is too big to fit in the charger receptacle. Any thoughts on what the solution is?

What I have sometimes done is remove the aluminum bracket that puts the plug at an angle and mount the plug flush on the body.

Thank you, Luke. Are the 36v and 48v plugs different sizes?

Luke, I followed your advice and the cart is charging. [emoji106] The plug is slightly loose. Is that likely to be a problem?

A loose connection will cause problems. Make sure neither the plug or the receptacle are getting hot.

I think Luke has given the best solution for this. And Scotty is right about future problems.

I had this happen once when I replaced a crowsfoot. The dang plastic housing was too big to fit inside the recess part of the receptacle. I was able to file down the plastic housing enough to make it work.

How in the hell can a company actually manufacture something like this not knowing it won't work?

Maybe you could take the cord off your old charger and put it on the new one. Or contact the place you got the new charger and tell them the plug will not fit your cart and have them send you a cord that will or a new charger. Knowing me I think I might just use my old cord if I had one.

Crows foot plugs are not always Club Cars Yamaha used a surface mounted version. For the Yamaha version the size of the outside casing of the plug really doesn't matter.

Crow foot plugs are all the same size. It is true that Yamaha used a flush mount plug once, but they mount a little differently. Usually the "trick" of putting the original mreceptacle flush works for me.

The plug isn't usually loose though. Might be almost time for a new receptacle.
