May I ask what are your goals for your cart? More speed, more torque, disconnect the Regen so it coasts instead of having the motor slow you down... Have you looked at the sticky to determine exactly what kind of cart you have? (See link at bottom of this post.)

As Shadowman said just let either one of the sponsors or some other vendor like PQ know what you have and what you are trying to accomplish. No depression… no brain damage… just good facts and options once and for all!

Guide to tell if Club Car is Series or Sepex(regen) system
I thank you both first off - Im trying to stay positive for this vacation project; It would be a bit easier if I could 'see' my cart while trying to finalize this for sure (its in NC and im in AZ). Now, what I have been able tto verify is its definitely a 2001 CC 48v, and 95% sure its the sepex Regen-1; That is where I seemed to not have much luck finding the motor/controller I had hoped to use (Series vs this Regen-1).

What I definitely KNOW I want to do for sure is an 8" A-Arm Lift with 25" Alltrails on 12" (ITP or Tsunami) wheels; Use will be small yard, some easy/med off road (trails) and some steet hills in neighborhood. I know I will probably need more torque for sure.

Any other comments welcome

Since I cant see my cart, can someone tell me where the speed controller is located/mounted, so I can have my cousin look to verify Regen I/II?

Welcome to the forum. I have a 2001 CC Regen as you do and I like it. I have upgrade many, many things. So don't get depressed at all.

There are pros and cons to the Regen, but that is all a matter of opinion. I personally like my regen cart because I have kids that are learning to drive.
I have a 9 year old and and a 12 year old that are learning to drive the cart so I personally want the regen.

The Regen has two features that I really like, one the roll-away feature, if a kid bumps the brake pedal and moves it off of park or it starts rolling away, it starts beeping and applies power to the motor to stop it from being a run away cart, this is a great feature for safety or if you live with a lot of hills.

Second, I like the regen braking especially for kids, if you are going down hill and you are going to fast and you are off of the gas the regen systems acts like shift a manual tranny down a gear and slows the cart a bit, but if you have you foot on the pedal even if it's just a bit to click the relay but not apply any power, the regen system doesn't brake, so it's not a problem at all really.

I put in a high speed Admiral motor for the Regen cart paid about $410 for it shipped (been running for 6months no issues) Upgraded all 6 ga cables to 4 ga, changed wheels, tires, springs, added a horn, and a 48v to 12v converter. I have not replaced my controller yet and I do need to do it as I have lost some torque up the hills, but when running flat out I get 24-25 mph and when you are going that fast and then down a hill the regen brake is sure a nice compliment to the drum brakes in the back. I will be putting in an ALLTrax 400amp controller to get my torque back. This page will help you find controllers that work with the Regen.

I got my Motor from this seller, I've bought several things from them and they are good. http://tinyurl.com/djtmlf

I have an 04 which is regen in my quest for more I started to thinking it needed to be converted to series. Through further research I'm starting to believe I'm better off with the regen. My plans now are to keep the buggy regen but seriously upgrade it.

Sure it's been quite fun working on it. Those pictures were before I upgraded the wires to 4ga and I've also adjusted the rear heavy duty springs to take out the one of the leafs to they weren't quite a stiff. I also forgot to mention that I got a cheap key and switch for form Autozone so my keys wouldn't be the same as every other club car. Just search for threads that I started.

I have both 95 series cart it is fine, and a 97 re gen it is nice for the braking feature. As far as run time not much different, I live in Ohio so total elevation difference is a foot, and a half. As far as upgrades they both had high speed motors when purchased three years ago, and still going strong. So depending what you want to do it is possible.
