here's a question Im asking but don't know the answer too.

On a Precedent which has a controller with an amp rating in the high 200's, is a cable upgrade really necessary if the controller is not upgraded. Although a motor can handle the extra rush of Amps, the controller will not supply it, so the cables shouldn't be an issue on stock controller...right??

I was always taught to think of electrical flow like a flow of water...so this would be like shooting a garden hose thru a 3' sewer pipe, if ya get my analogy

That's true if you knew the next Bottle Neck after a PQ upgrade was not the Cables.

Be nice to see what cables alone would do for torque and speed :)

K.......give me a few days, but I'll take that one.....#2AWG with lugs will be my first upgrade......will GPS before and after cable install......taken 30 minutes after a full charge.....

I'm thinking (based on Car Audio experience) that bigger is always better......National Electrcial Code always states "guage must be "atleast" X.....never smaller, always larger....

I gotta order the #2 welding cable tomorrow.....and we'll go from there...

Oh BTW.....maybe orphaning one of the kids tomorrow.....*L*......

K.....I'll have 18's as opposed to your 22's.........less speed, more torque?......good assumption?.....
Yes, Oxfordlawn got 22mph with his 18's I believe

YUP! 22 MPH with speed code 3 and also after speed code 4 installed. The new code upgrade made no difference with the PQ motor.
This is with stock 18" tires

rcdd , what you now have is #6 Welding.
#4 welding can be a pretty snug fit through the OBC and must place the Eyelet on after
running through the OBC. Be carefull if using #2 going through the OBC and do not reem
too much out .

Or you can leave the original #6 going through the OBC and add the new #4 to it but running around the OBC. (Credit given to PhaseTim for that suggestion.)

Yeah , Thats the ticket.
I think the OBC will still send the charger the Information it needs on the original #6,
while providing added copper for power on the #2 or #4 bypass cable !

From what I recall PhaseTim suggested this and of course does this for a living so I'd bet it will work. No need to reem the hole in the OBC and mess it up nor having to solder a lug AFTER you pass the upgraded wire through the OBC!

Wow....let me get my cables in hand, and I'm gonna be an "asking-fool".....

I'll read up on PhaseTim's posts, and see if I can my head wrapped around it......but like most project, I'm just gonna dive in and try to tread water....*L*

K....How many feet of #2awg?.......

And for the record, I'm going with #2 because I've got buckets of lugs kicking around......it's gonna be cheaper to get bigger cable, and buying cable and lugs.....*S*
