ClubCar A8913 keeps charging
Just had new batteries put in, they are Interstate U2200UT. It's for golf, so plug-in after the round and is still running the next day. Sometimes, 24+ hours...only thing changed is these batteries, what's up?

Re: ClubCar A8913 keeps charging
Welcome to BGW!
Check the water levels, and, make sure all of the cables are clean and tight! IMO, charging for 24 hrs. is way too long... |

Re: ClubCar A8913 keeps charging
Call the dealer, you probably got 1 bad one.... you are cooking the good ones which could lead to 6 bad ones... charger would normally shut off after 5-6 hours.

Re: ClubCar A8913 keeps charging
What year is the cart , does it have a OBC.
What type of charger are you using ? Is the reason you replaced the Batteries , because the old ones would not charge ? |

Re: ClubCar A8913 keeps charging
Yes, I replaced the batteries because the old ones wouldn't hold a charge. They were maybe 3-4yrs. old. I understand the Club Car model # of A8913 to mean this is a 1989 made during the 13th week. It has a Lestronic II model #07850 charger. Now, I played Sunday afternoon and plugged in afterwards. It was still charging this morning Tuesday AM, yikes so like you guys said it's way to long...I unplugged it 'til I can look at it afterwork tonite!
Some other info, I didn't have a dealer install these, but got the batteries from a "battery friend" who got a good deal, and they installed it. Just the batteries too, no new cables or anything else. They did the "scrub-scrub" of the gook on the previous connections, then did some "spray-spray" of some battery terminal stuff then wired 'em all back up. 1. Is it possible that the wiring is not correct? Would it even work if any of this was wrong? 2. HOW do I check for a possible bad battery and or if any of the other ones are damaged? Thanks! |

Re: ClubCar A8913 keeps charging
I can not stress this point enough.....DO NOT let the charger run for more than 12 hours ..... you will end up cooking the batteries. The heat will do permanent damage.

Re: ClubCar A8913 keeps charging
Can you post a pic with the seat off showing all of the batteries and all of the connection like this?

Re: ClubCar A8913 keeps charging
Well even with previous sets of other batteries, there would some times when the charger would run past 12 hours, but not really past say 16 hrs. Just depended upon the previous days use, but would eventually shut off.
So, I checked the other sticky about good batteries for a Club Car and I don't even see the Interstate batteries listed. As I mentioned, my "battery friend" said "yea, they're just 6v deep cell...yada, yada" just batteries right? I'm wondering, are these any good...I'm wondering ??? Here's some pix...these taken from left side of cart, hope they're ok. |

Re: ClubCar A8913 keeps charging
First picture (all) the bottom left battery looks suspicious. Cables look corroded and in poor condition, maybe even a bad connection that will cause the charger to run on.
Were these batteries all new? My first thought would be to clean all the cables and connections again and replace any bad/corroded cables. If you have a digital volt meter can you post the voltages of each battery. If one is low, you may have a bad battery. After charging and a rest they should all be over 6.40v. |
