Default Micro Switch or Solenoid

I've got my 81 CC at the course and haven't had a chance to check it out with a meter yet but the last few times I drove it the 3rd solenoid doesn't kick in all the time, a few holes it will run just fine then it will miss. You can hear the micros click but it will jerk when the fourth one clicks. Will a bad solenoid work on and off or will they just go out completely?

One way to figure out for sure is to clip on lead for voltmeter to the small wire on the solenoid, monitor voltageand when you know for surethe relay should be on and isnt, see if you voltage at that solenoid activation wire. This will eliminate or point to the microswitch.

Thanks for the info, I'll probably pick up a couple to keep on hand, I'm sure I'll need one sooner or later, I know I need one on the 87 CC I have at the house.
