Street legal in Florida is max at 25 mph and only on a street that is 35mph or under.

I can only answer that based on Florida Law. The Gem's are LSV's as well and also must abide by the Florida Statues on LSV's, that being streets of 35 mph or less. Do a google as see if you find anything else on this.

That gear change to 6:1 makes off the line torque noticeable. It's no dog but no chance of wheelies now. We hit some pretty steep inclines and a buzzing sound was coming from the controller I think??
He was raving about his D&D motor... are those the high dollar cream of the crop motors?

Ox, you're right...it's time to go to 72v since my goal was 32-35mph and I don't see any way of getting there without 72v. I'm surprised I can only get 28mph out of my setup...doesn't seem right.

I'd talk with BRS and see why such a big spread between carts. Isn't his setup the same with the exception of HS Gears?

If you have 22" tires, 27" tires should be good for around another 7mph (give or take) if your motor can push it.
