Default Re: 4 guage not enough?

I should have shortened these cables a long time ago. I think because these sets are sold as universal they give you plenty!!! There is at least an extra "18 on all cable/controller cables. I have a hydraulic crimper, but how would I solder the connections? Do I dip the ends, or use a soldering gun....?, lead or something else. I've never soldered anything this big. Thanks for all the help.

I use a dab of flux... end in the vise... cable in the end... plumbers torch.... it'll easily take 18" of solder in the terminal and up in the wire itself... some heat shrink tubing and your done...

thats a lot of solder dawg !!! I use about 1 1/2 inches and my ends are solid.
Not sure you want it running up the cable and making it solid too

Do some searching around BRS we have discussed this for many many pages. you have to use a torch to get enough heat to do it well IMHO

Here is a boatload of discussion......
