Hi All . 1ST post. 1985 36v club car. help please

Hi i was wondering if anyone could make suggestions, I bought a 1985 club car 36volt with trojan batteries it ran very slow after charging and wouldnt go up the smallest incline,so I changed all battery cables and cleaned evevrything and still the sames problem,

So this year I bought 6 new exide gc-2 batteries, charged them overnight, now runs somewhat faster but not as fast as should be but it will now make it up a hill but at a snails pace, ive been searching the forum and other web things, Ive checked all wires and replaced any that looked bad/corrorided (all battery cables) ive been trying to read about a speed switch and not sure what that is, also looked at info on micro switches .

could that be it if so how do i check these. alaso someone said something about the acuator? guess tahts waht the pedal is connected to, any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Can you post the voltage readings for each battery 1 hour after the charger turns off?
Cables corrode on the inside too without much external signs ......

Hi its at a friends house nowm I will post asap, also there is a rocker type switch under the seat, when I put it to one side you cant power the cart even with the key on, is this a safety switch? also is there a Governer ro is that jusy on gas carts thanks again

The rocker switch is not part of the stock equipment.... Make ure to change all of the battery cables and try again..... If one or two were bad they are all shot Post those readings

Yes I changed all the battery cables also some others that went to the forward/reverse switvh

How about those voltage readings then? I guess it could be a solenoid issue if all else is good .....

I read something about micro switches could it be those? also i read about the resistors and to listen for the clicks .I hear 5 clicks as it starts out but as im crusing i hear it click bck and forth a few times(4th-5th?) is there an adjustment for the accelerator? it goes to the floor thanks again

If you hear all 5 solenoids click as you press the peddle down they should be working?
Try putting the cart on blocks and remove the seat. now with your hand slowly push the peddle down and listen for the first click. That is the master and then at the second click the wheels should start to turn and third click they should go faster and 4th and 5th faster yet. You should see and hear a speed increase with each click..... if not check the coils for a break AFTER they have a chance to cool. They get plenty hot to burn ya!
Let us know what you find from this test......

thanks Ill try that, should I do anything with the micro switches? also anything about the speed assembley? thanks again

The micro-switches and the throttle assembly actuate the solenoids. If the solenoids operate then the micros are working. Since you hear all 5 click then I assume all 5 micros are working.... Now, a solenoid can click but, not function. It is possible. Or a break in one of the resistor coils? Careful those coils get hot. I suggest you physically check them before running it when they are cold.
