the physical position of the computer is not the issue, it is very important that the wire going from the batteries into the computer is going into plastic, exiting the metal side then going to your speed controller.

on later model cars they made it impossible to make that mistake(or unlikely)...

the negative cable is going thru the hole then to controller if thats what you are saying.
as of tonight
battery to obc metal side thru holethru plastic then controller

remember I do flooring it doesn't take brains just strong back

from what you are saying
battery to plastic sid thru hole past metal to controller.

doesnt matter how its mounted just as long as the battery cable going to controller passes thru plastic first starting at battery and to obc to controller.

the direction the wire flows through the computer is the issue...

the computer detects current flowing through your battery cable.... and it detects the direction the current is flowing...

so it literally has to go like this.... battery negative to plastic front of computer, exit out of metal rear of computer, then hook to controller....

if for some reason it goes from battery to metal part of computer, exits plastic, then to controller, it will act possessed.. because it is reading voltage flowing the opposite direction, thus making the computer say "what the (insert colorful expletive)"

no, it shouldn't hurt anything, other than the hammer marks it made you put on it....

the first time I did that, I spent 2 hours trying to figure out what I had done wrong... lol... my boss(or father in law) came over and said... oh yeah, that wire is directional.. lol. 10 minutes later....

he has a slight advantage, hes been working on golf cars since 1960...

p.s.-- i would call the dealer, and let them know their mistake.. either the man in charge didn't know it mattered, or someone under him doesn't know.. either way, it would help them out to know that bit of info..

Could have a wire that has coroded inside the conection. Had this on a 97 cut 2 inches off the wire cleaned and crimped a new end on works fine now.
