5k-0 or 0-5k
I have an upgraded 36v to 48v cart, like I said yesterday, but the question is now do I use a PB-6 pot or do I use an MCOR? I also need to know if my 1990 CC is a 5K-0 or 0-5K. How do I tell? Does anyone have any recommendations for a 400 amp speed controller? We need to do this as inexpensively as possible. Could I use the PB-6 w/o a speed controller or do I need that? We want to get rid of the v-glide.

Re: 5k-0 or 0-5k
A pb-6 is an electronic throttle pedal position sensor that gets attatched to the throttle linkage rod. Depending on where the throttle is the pb-6 sends out a variable voltage signal from high to low(basically). That signal is then sent to the controller. The controller is a "computer" per say that reads the throttle signal, and then takes the battery voltage from the battery pack, and sends out a specific voltage to the motor, based on the signal it sees from the pb-6. so you need a pb-6 and a controller for the system to work. You need a "series" type controller for the motor that is in your type cart. Guys have gotten controllers from e-bay with good results called logisystems or logitech, something like that. I have no experience with these but they are cheaper than the best which is Alltrax, so do some searches for controllers on here and look for that cheaper brand only if money is a real issue--remember, you do get what you pay for

Re: 5k-0 or 0-5k
to check the difference of either 5K to 0 or vice versa as yoiu hit your pedal it will start at 5K and go down to zero or it will start at zero and go up to 5K you can test this with a volt meter......................

Re: 5k-0 or 0-5k
Here is what I learned the hard way..... all conversions should be done on a 0-5K system simply because 1. you have to buy both components 2. the 0-5K is more readily available ..... Hope this helps

A lot of Alltrax controllers can be programmed to work with either inputs.

Re: 5k-0 or 0-5k
I would like to say thanks for all of the input is has been extremely helpful! We have decided to go with the Alltrax programmable and the pb-6 controller. Let's hope that this is all the trouble that we will have with this cart!
Thanks once again!!!:headbang |
