Club Car Problems

Hello Fellow "Buggiers"
I am new to the forum, but have been reading some of the posts and have been impressed by the knowledge. I have a '03 48V AQ Club Car. I bought it from an individual, and unfortunately, do not have any manuals. I use it exclusively for golfing, and our course is quite hilly.

In the past week or so, I have developed something that I don't know how to handle. Within the past month, I have cleaned and lubricated all the battery connections. The batteries have been checked and they all appear to be good (I think they are about 2 yrs old). The previous owner had swapped out the original battery cables and installed regular automotive cables with copper ends. I cleaned them and battery posts and used dielctric grease to lubricate. I have not gone any further with cleaning and checking connections, as I am unsure of the "chain of events" or order that occurs when you depress the pedal to "Go", and did not want to screw something up without checking with someone who is knowledgable.

Cart has been maintained well. I noticed in the past few times I have used it that it is not operating normally. I just yesterday played 27 holes with a passenger, and it was still going good as far as power. Whether on a hill or flat ground (and it doesn't do it all the time), it loses speed. I have noticed that there is approximately 1"+ of travel on the accelerator pedal, before I hear the solenoid(s) click. It doesn't seem to go any faster forward than it does in reverse. I think I can hear a clicking sound when it is moving, although I don't know whether it is a solenoid or what.

There is a point on the accelerator that it does not lose any speed, and if you can find it with your foot, then it runs OK although not very fast (or at least as fast as it did when I bought it a couple of months ago). When I first got it, when you pressed the pedal it was quick to respond and had plenty of speed/power. I HAVE NOTICED THAT WHEN IT DOES START TO LOSE POWER/SPEED, YOU CAN BACK OFF THE PEDAL, THEN DEPRESS AGAIN, AND IT PICKS BACK UP.

Is there an adjustment on the accelerator pedal that I need to look at? If so, how do you adjust it? What are some other things I need to be looking for? Your thoughts and suggestions would be most appreciated. I love the cart, and just want it to run good.

Sounds like the MCOR ( throttle indicator device) is going out on ya....can leave you walking anytime. let off and stomp it down when it acts up? Best to have a shop look at that unless you are DC electric experienced.
And change the battery cables back to golf cart cables asap.

Thanks Scottyb for the reply. Is the MCOR the same thing as a potentiometer? Where is the MCOR located and what does it do? Before doing that, should I go through the balance of the electrical system cleaning and checking. MCOR sounds expensive, is it?

most parts for electric carts are pricey..........nature of thre beast and thats where good regular maintenc pays off...................theres no adjustment on the M-cor and its different than the pot.....................my best advice is and i know we all want to save a buck but you can really do some damage on an elec cart if your unsure or hook something up wrong or backwards........that being said if you can get it to a reptutable cart shop for an estimate of cost and whats wrong...then get on here and let us know and we,ll guide you thur that your being treated good or being taken advantage of and just ask some of the members here there are some real scumbags out there just waiting to take your money...................................good luck keep us posted and yes buy a service manual for your cart its the best money you,ll spend.................................
