Default 93 Club Car Battery Discharge

I have a 93 Club Car with one year old batteries. After a 20 minute ride from completely charged batteries, I plugged the charger in and when I went into the garage the next morning the charger was still running and the batteries had almost completely discharged and were hot. I unplugged the charger to let the batteries cool and came back an hour later and the batteries had completely discharged.

Is this a solenoid problem? Also the cart has had poor performance going up any kind of hill.

Thanks

Welcome..... you might have more than 1 problem..... check the specific gravity of each cell or use a cheap load tester form HF to see if you have a bad battery. With the key off and cart in neutral disconnect the battery neg to cart... now reconnect. Is there a little spark when you reconnect? You might have a solenoid welded open? You can check that with your volt meter...

Anyone else got some ideas?

I am going to recharge the batteries individually with my car charger since I have completely discharged them. Any preference on whether I should charge two at a time or one(i have a 6/12 volt charger)? Can I check the load with a Ohmmeter?

You can charge 2 at a time with a 12v charger in half the time. CHeck them before an dafter charging and post the voltage readings here... see if we can determine if the batteries are okay for starters? Did you check for that disconnect/ connection spark ?

Have not done anything to it yet due to me running out the door to fly to Norfolk for Navy Duty. I will return Thursday night and start the process. Just to be sure, what is the process / correct hook up procedures for charging two at a time.

If the batteries are the culprit then I will exchange them since they are just a year old. I think that the solenoid may be the problem too.

Thanks Scotty

charge them just as they set in the cart,
Disconect battery pack From Cart,
Disconnect the cable which ties Battery 2 and 3 together, also disconnect the cable
which ties 4 and 5 together , now you have 3 sets of 2 Batteries - Charge .

You must have a hot lead shorted to ground or as scottyb stated some bad battery Cells. Or I guess it is also possable that you have a bad charger and you are never reaching full charge , which in turn would make you think the Batteries are draining prematurely ?

The cart charger should turn itself off after the Batteries reach Full charge 38+ Volts of
16 hours (whichever comes first)

Get out the Old Voltmeter and measure each set of 2 batteries before charging and them measure again 30 minutes after charge is complete .
Post results here !

OK Put the voltmeter to each of the batteries. No volts, well a little less than 1.

Have connected the charger to each battery individually due to the charger kicking off because the amp draw was too high.

I have the first battery down to 6 amp draw now. I will leave it on for a little while longer then connect and charge two at a time.

Moving forward... I think.

I doubt you will have any success..... never heard of a battery coming back from the dead that read below 3 volts even for a little while.... I think we have a pic of you charging the batteries below ...... please click on the image below
