Default 03 IQ nightmare

My IQ has fallen and can't get up I need help....
I got an 03 IQ built in partnership with GM. It is a NEV complete with these extras; roll bar/seat belts, windshield wiper, blinkers/stop & headlights, 4 wheel brakes.

Cart was given to a teenage boy who with his friends abused it until it stopped working and then they figure on fixing it with a pair of wire cutters and electrical tape.....
It had 5 8v and 1 6v in it when I got it....

I have reconnected most all of the wiring per the diagram i have. This diagram (see attachment) doesn't show the add-ons or the typical CC voltage reducer.... For starters can someone explain how this reducer works? Is it 16v in and 12 out? Positive current?

I got 6 gd batteries in it and the charger came on. ... so charging now. I am sure this is the tip of the iceberg Having trouble getting juice up to the key.
Any Help is greatly appreciated

okay, the pack has 50+ volts.50v in and out of the key and to the solenoid.... the frame has 43v the solenoid wont click & the cart won't with it jumpered ..... the obc is letting the cart charge...I already hate this cart

Why would Club Car take a simple golf cart and put like a million fukin wires in it ???

he shouldn,t be getting any voltage on the frame should he? does the cart have a voltage reducer on it? if so check to see how its wired.........one more thing i have seen starting in about 99 that the OBC will be bad and the cart may or may not run but in either case the cart will charge but the charger won,t shut off and fries the batteries.........but that voltage to the frame?????........................................ ........

I know ..... I'm guessing a big fat short cause the batteries are not all that wet. 4 of the six have been out for wire and tray repairs and looked okay...
The obc? I don't know if it will let the charger shut off? I will wait and see? Batteries in pretty bad shape. Started charging at 47.4.

You said Any help would be appreciated so here goes...

I know that under my dash using some ground wires gave a lower voltage reading then normal such as your 43 volts even though the pack was about 51 volts so I assume it was grounding internally into the controller or similar. Is that controller having an issue and now grounding to the frame?

I don't have a voltage reducer on my cart from the factory, even with factory lights so did they use 2 8 volts for the lights instead of a reducer? Is there a reducer on the cart or are you asking if there should be one?

The power block under the seat in front of the batteries most likely came from a separate lead directly from the battery pack.

Can you forget about all the extras for now, (lights, wiper, etc.,) disconnect the additional fuse panel and just work this like a normal cart using the existing wiring diagram? We just had a bad resistor on the solenoid on an 05 IQ causing the cart fuse issues... does that resistor still have some resistance or is it fried?

Out of all people here on BGW you know so much more so I'm getting the feeling that you're just frustrated and not thinking like you usually do so... how about sitting back, have a beer and just think about this as a new build, one step at a time instead of looking at a maze of wires from an unusual cart.

I mean the above with the utmost respect... it should be us having these issues and asking you for help, not the opposite!

Shadow, the pack is approaching 56 volts at what voltage would you expect the charger to cut off at? Different OBCs for Different years with no specs or schematics avail!? THe old reducer has one wire in and one wire out. It carries negative voltage but, I am getting the same voltage reading in and out? It is bolted to the frame.....hmmm?

Might sound high but my IQ goes up to 64 volts before kicking off. Then runs down to 54 real quick, floats around 53 for a while then 52 for a bit before setting in at 51.3 24 hours later 51.1 They are 6 month old Trojan T-1275's though.

That's good to know..... I probably wasn't gonna let it runup that high but, I might. Trying to figure out if the obc is gonna shut her off or if it is fried. Shadow says some of the OBCs will not shut the charger off and will not let the cart run.... I'm not really OBC literate

I have one of those reducers. Its only designed to take 16V and reduce to 12. It goes inline in the ground side of all the circuits and then gets hooked to the neg. battery terminal of the 16V group. So the positive side of all the accesories will be getting fed the 16V right from the battery group, but all the grounds tie together and then get hooked to the reducer, and then the reducer to the neg. of the battery group(16V)--get it off hte frame--holy crap--who wired that thing
Used for the lights, horn, and other 12V accesories such as radios and whatnot.
Hoped this helped
