Default Cart Shutters under full load

Fisrt off, Hi all and thanks already for all the help Ive recieved by reading this site! Tons of great info and links.

My current problem is with a 1995 48V CC. The cart seems to be at full charge, but when I step on the go pedal, the cart just shutters and no go. The batteries are fairly new (2-3 years claimed by seller) and are charged. Maybe too much! They are Trojan T-875s (x6) and meter out as follows from 1 to 6:
11.16, 11.16, 11.06, 11.02, 10.96, and 11.09. If I measure from the positive on one side of the pack to the negative on the other I get ~66v.

I fully charged the cart about a month ago, with little usage, but it was running fine. I just ran it again last weekend and noticed the problem. I figured the batteries were low, so plugged it in. This AM I checked the cart and the problem is still there. The cart must be charged though with the readings above right? Are my batteries overcharged and is this fouling the system?

What else should I look into ? Thanks so much for you help!

Matt.

Hmm sounds like 6 discharged 12V batteries not 6 - 8V Trojan T-875's

don't have an answer for your problem but I sure wish I had 66 volts running thru my cart---now that would be fun

i have never seen this on a 1995 48 volt cart but is the charger shutting off? it could be overcharging the batteries..............i would load test each battery and than check each cell with a hydrometer and its also possible you have an OBC problem that would account for those #,s and the fact that running wise its like running with dead batteries...............another thing could be motor brushes or bad contacts in V-glide if cart has one.........these are the tough ones trying to figure it out from a keyboard............by the way welcome....................................

Hmm,

I checked the voltage again tonight and all batteries had dropped to about 9.5v. I then checked them under a load and 4 were around 9.2v. The two center batteries though were at about 5.2 under load!

Is there a way to charge the low batteries only, then test the system? I only have a 6v/12v trickle charger (and of course the 48v with the cart).

if the 5.2 voltage reading is a true reading under load thats your problem....you ned to get rid of at least those 2 with 2 good used ones.............................................. .

Can you get a 9.5 V reading on an 8 V battery?

Some thing is WRONG WITH THIS VOLTAGE. T 875s that I have in my cart NEVER SHOW HIGHER THAN 9.5 volts right after charging?? Does he have a 12 volt charger trying to charge 8 volt batterys or is he reading the battery voltage on the WRONG SCALE on his meter? I suppose it could be a charger problem but I have never seen one do that
( increase voltage ) usually its the other way. I could see overcharging problem from OBC but batterys would boil out and give him a clue I would think.

yes they should give a clue if someone is paying attention and there lies the problem most people plug the charger in and forget about it.......i have never seen that happen on that year but who knows .......i do agree those #,s don,t make a lot of sense..................................
