48V conversion problems
Picked up a modified CC a few years ago. SN is A9142 267216, but has a 48V system. Only use it in campground, and last fall some *** stole my batt's, they were old anyway...but the cart ran. Just replaced all the batts, Sam's club specials, but there were too many extra wires and I can't figure out where they all go?
Battery voltage seems ok - 51V total Charge indicator - works Headlights - work when I turn the key on I hear a click - Solenoid? Depress the pedal - nothing Going back in, but any advice is welcome |

There are wiring diagrams at the top of this section .... that should help with the too many wires And that should make the cart run

Tried the wiring diagrams, nothing close
2 questions - wire from key switch goes through a micro switch (fr sw) then to solenoid. At the front end of that solenoid is red and black at full potential 52VDC, solenoids not energizing (needs 12V) but only 6vdc on the leads. Should I move the hot wire on key switch to a different battery to get higher volts? Seems like I am dropping 6v somewhere? and, have one wire left un-connected? Top of accelerator linkage is a small block with two screws. If I put an ohmeter across and move the pedal the res changes. One screw/wire goes to the outer square post on the FR switch, the other screw wire is my mystery wire? |

That stuff is on the diagram... THe solenoid has 2 small activation terminals and 2 large continuity terminals. It is a switch. Full power to the key (50+v) from a constant source of POS. then to the microswitch on the F&R then to the small POS side of the solenoid. THe NEG side of the small terminals is constant. Hope this helps .......BY the way your solenoid needs 48v (48v rated) not 12v to activate. If you have a 12v automotive solenoid install it will not work for long ( if at all) !!!!

I think I have an unusual cart? Using a Curtis controller, three solenoids, and a different acc linkage? The solenoid in question is labelled 12 v, and I can fire it using a separate 12v supply. It doesnt work when its in situ though not enough volts
Still stumped by the extra wire on top of acc linkage? Guess I'll have to search the campground for a similar build? |

Your cart is a 1991 ... I have converter some CCs from 36 to 48v and they do not need to be as complicated as yours seems to be..... I have never heard of a 12v solenoid being used with much success in a golf cart. Plainly put ..... the 12v solenoids are momentary engagement devices and the golf cart needs the solenoid engaged ALL the time it is running..... THe 12v solenoids tend to burn up rather quickly under this kind of use...... You can run that cart on just one 48v golf cart Solenoid.
