Question 04 Club Car IQ bad controller?

Okay Guys

My new cart ran like a dream the first day or two... then it would just suddenly lose power and stop even with the accelerator to the floor. It would go in reverse but would not accelerate forward.
If I turned the key off for a couple of minutes when I turned it back on it would be good to go. It might run a couple of minutes or a couple of hours before it would lose power again.
The guy I bought it from said it was probably a bad controller so he sent me a new one. I installed it about 2 weeks ago and everything has been fine until today when it lost power just like before.
Any ideas?

Thanks!

well if you put a new controller in and same problem, as long as controller was installed right than start with basics...........always.........battery cables good connection ends very clean and tight, pull and twist each cable as it only takes one, battery voltage from each battery ( write #,s down ) load test each one with a good load tester....................check all cells with a hydrometer and also write down specific gravity #,s.............possible you got a bad controller ( unlikely ) but possible.......do you have the M-cor? if so it could going out but check wiring going to it............in every case when your gonna tackle your own repairs always start with the very beginning basics, some members say its a waste of time however i beg to differ, if your front brakes on your car start squeaking you don,t just put rear drums or rotors and pads or shoes and a the same with the front than change the master cylinder the brake booster and all the lines do you.................get a service manual go strait to trouble shooting anf if you find your symptons there follow the directions and do the test in the order they give, don,t get me wrong as you do more and more you,ll be able to save some manual time but if your unsure follow all directions and ask any questions you don,t follow or understand........................................ ......

Thanks Tom! I've got a service manual on order. Guess I'll start with the basics...

Good luck when you get the service manual to help you troubleshoot your problem!

In the mean time it does seem kind of odd that 2 different controllers are doing the same thing and even odder that the second one lasted 2 weeks before giving you the problem. Do you think that you might have a loose lead somewhere that, when replacing the first controller, got back in place, where it needed to be making a better connection for a bit? If that was the case than just jiggling the connections on and around your second controller might prove that either way until you get your manual. And does your cart still have FULL use of reverse now? How about the field wire on your motor? F&R switch?

Just out of the joy of it check your no 6 yellow wire to solenoid, and b+ on controler. Might have a bad solenoid. Going off an older manual but might be the same that way. Jump the solenoid to confirm.
