Default new controller and motor but no real speed increase

i just put in a new 500 amp controller and a 9 hp motor from D&D into my 2005 48 volt clud car ds but am only seeing a increase in speed at about 5 mph. do i need to reprogram my controller to get maximum output?

If you get an increase of 20% - 25% you are doing good.

14 mph x 125% = 17.5 mph
15 mph x 125% = 18.75 mph

The 25" tires are making it tougher for the motor to turn as well. The controller will give you great torque at low and mid speeds and will allow the max for full out which I believe you've gotten. Search this forum for others with similar setups to see what their results are as well.

Do you still have stock Cables or did you upgrade all #6 to #4 .
Check after running and see if cables are warm , you could be loosing power to
heat loss in cables.

So the NEW 500 Amp controller is Programmable ???
