Default Smoked VGlide

Well this is the result of playing is wet sand/clay and too much power called from an oversized motor in a VGlide setup. What I did inthe last picture was take the first three contact pads that are not used for power and swap them out with the ones that were really burned. Used an emery cloth on a flat surface and polished all the feet smooth and most of the pits are gone. This will buy me some time until I get a controller and PB-6 to install. A very wise man warned me of this many many moons ago--right ScottyB So now Im off to Club car to get a new contact and holder

That will work. Inspect the wipper button fit on the other contacts be sure you are getting full face contact on all of the lugs or she will arc and pit right away

Well after a lot of emery cloth and small wood block sanding, we are back in action. I used a credit card as a straight edge to get the face surfaces perfectly even--what a pain in the arse. Adjusted the contact surface to sit flush and the VGlide now feels smooth as glass. Probably smoother and more even contact surface heights than from factory. Lesson learned here--stay on the road and save money for controller upgrade conversion. And now back to the tests aI was suddenly reminded of that old equation : 1 minute 4 wheelin equals 1 hour cleanup

Nice job of aligning the contacts. Never thought of using a credit card to check alignment. Thats about all a credit card is good for these days.
So often when changing contacts in V glide they are all different heights and makes for a sticky pedal at times until they wear in and I feel shortens the life of wiper arm and contact?
I wonder some times if somebody should make a jig to make contacts all same height before installing them? But then you would have to pull the lower ( none speed ) contacts out that normaly dont need replacing out to get good fit.

Where do you get replacement contacts
When I went to Club Car to get the new brush and holder, I was told by the parts dept. that the internal contact pads were not available seperately, that a new VGlide housing is the only way to get those Thats why I spent all that time cleaning up the old ones. Yes they were different heights and the foot was getting caught, so after making all same height with emery I also put a small beveled edge on the brush, as well as the contacts the best I could with the edge of the small block of wood and the emery....it really is sooooo smoooth now
