interstate 8 vlt batteries any good?
anybody had experience with interstate's 8 vlt batteries? are they worth buying? my local sam's club sells them for $72 ea. i looked on interstate's web site and the specs are very comparable to exide and trojan's. will they not last as long as the more expensive batts?

Re: interstate 8 vlt batteries any good?
I, myself have not used Interstate... as long as they're "Golf Cart" batteries... you may be O.K.
Right now I'm using "Werker" batteries (Batteries Plus) they're doing well for being 4 years old... but, will need to be replaced soon! As long as you keep them maintained... you'll be O.K., BUT... you'll probably have to replace them in 5 years... Trojans are really the best way to go! (Just speaking from experience!) |

Re: interstate 8 vlt batteries any good?
I have seen 4 different cart owners in my area that purchased INTERSTATE GOLF CART BATTERYS from different suppliers, and none of them have been happy with them as in all but one case the batterys had to be adjusted before the first year was up, and replacement several times there after? The other case was defective batterys from the time of installation and again because of dealer giving customer run around they were only replaced by "ADJUSTMENT" and in all cases you end up purchasing them over and over again?
I know that 2 of these people were very careful in battery up keep as they even went so far as "BORROW DISTILLED WATER" from me to fill batterys until they could replace it for me and asked me questions about proper care after purchasing them new? I have followed Interstate Batterys since the late 1940s and found them not to my quality standard. When I purchase a battery I expect it to give me reasonable service and NOT BE A RENTAL UNIT WHICH IS WHAT "ADJUSTMENTS" ARE? Thats my .02 worth. |

OLD MEC , Sound like you have more of a issue with the people who are selling them . We have had some problem with the smaller I-70 but its are company policy just to replace the battery not prorate it . We cover all batteries we sell with our own 2 year warranty .

The good news would then be that the batteries would be replaced. The bad news would be that you should never mix old batteries with new unless they're under 50 cycles or around 6 months. |

Re: interstate 8 vlt batteries any good?
GCS-- My problem was and is the performance of the battery brand in question? With all the advertising being done today I had hoped that product quality had changed, but saw no sign that it had based on local problems?
The human factor is another thing that would be WITH ANY BRAND or type of PRODUCTS. You have "YOUR OWN 2 YEAR WARRANTY" and that is WONDERFUL, but is that the MANUFACTURERS POLICY AS WELL? In our area this is NOT THE CASE, or not used IF AVAILABLE? When I was in buisness I had to do the same thing and protect the CUSTOMER and in many cases dip into my own pocket for manufacturers short comings. You can be sure if I had a problem with an brand of item it wouldnt be used in my shop for long as I had a wife and ( 6 ) kids to feed, plus 5 employees? |

Re: interstate 8 vlt batteries any good?
ok than, my intent was to find a lower priced battery that still functions well. i just bought a 2002 cc ds without much history and don't want to spend $8-900 on batts to see if it works ok. as far as longevity goes, i live in az and don't expect even the best batts to last more than 4-5 years at most in this heat.

Re: interstate 8 vlt batteries any good?
SRC9 I live in an area of 95 plus temps most of the year and know that only quality batterys stand up to the heat and rough usage that we get, along with the salt air moving in all the time from coast ( 10 Miles away ). I can understand your need for cheaper batterys as I am trying to live off SS ONLY, but find that CHEAP ISNT ALWAYS CHEAP?? Trojans are the best but there are other batterys out there that will give reasoable service IF YOU CARE FOR THEM CORRECTLY?
Some Forums have lists of batterys and what members have found that worked for them, you might check it out? |
