Default Thinking of going electric

I recently bought a 86 Marathon gas 2 stroke. I am thinking of selling it and my quad and buying something alot newer. My question is "gas or electric" and was hoping some of you could help me decide.

We (the family and I) will be using it primarily at the dirtbike tracks on the weekend to get around the pits\track. We are probably going to buy an RV next year and will probably hit a few camp grounds and I hear some of them don't alow gas carts??? So I was thinking toward an electric but not sure if they have enough power to get around the tracks? Also, not sure how long the batteries last if going up and down hills at the track all day.

What year\cart do you recommend for my purposes?

How fast are the electrics compared to the gassers?

How much faster are the 48v to the 36v?

What is the PDS?

What are the fastest club cars, EZ-Go's or Yamaha's when it come to electric.

Thank you,
Steve

At the dirt track I suggest a gas cart. At the camp grounds an electric... Sometimes you just need one of each

Gas garts are better suited for pit type activities because they're typically faster and have better torque (hill climbing) ability right out of the box. I do a lot of NHRA stuff and all the carts are gas. You can get an electric to do almost the same with some high $$ motor/controller combinations, but still have to worry about having a good charge at all times. Usually gas is more plentiful in the pits than electricity!

Your RVing aspect of usage is a different story. Electric wins out here, simply because a majority of campgrounds that allow golf carts restrict them to electric only due to noise/smell. May not be that way everywhere, but that has been my experience and the main reason I went electric.

As far as your other questions, my Precedent can acheive 19.6 mph. That's because the chip in the controller restricts it going any faster.
This is the fastest a modern Club car will go without the afore mentioned modifications and/or larger tires. Since this is my only golf cart experience, I can only comment on what I know.

Hope this helps.

PDS = Precision Drive System. Probably one of the simplest most reliable drive systems produced. If you want to HOT ROD an electric then stick with a series drive system and be prepared to pay heavily. Do some searching and read around alittle... You'll be pleased by what you can learn here... Some like ezgo, some like Ford. YOu just have to decide for yourself.

well, if you can have a gas or electric in the pits and only an electric at some campgrounds.......then go with an electric because it would suck to pull into a campground that says electric only and you have to keep the cart parked the whole time youre there and walk everywhere

Where would you be driving it? I would stick with gas because you don't have to charge the batteries and change the every couple of years.
