Charger
I have a mid 90s Club Car 48v,motor went bad,put on new motor, now when I push the gas pedal with wheels on the ground it blows the fuse. With the wheels off the ground it will run.The charger will not come on also.I checked the charger on a different cart so I know its good.I only have 32v at the batteries would this low voltage cause the fuse to blow?

Re: Charger
So did this start happening just after you installed the New Motor ?
Has it ever run with the new motor ? What were the issues/symptoms with the old motor prior to replacing ? Is this a 5 resistor cart or controller ? PS: Welcome to BGW !!! |

Re: Charger
just a thought---8V x 4 = 32V that you are getting. Are you sure you rehooked the battery cables up correctly??? Double check they all go positive to negative. and I think the magic number for the charger to come on is around 36V if i remember correctly.

Re: Charger
Stop! Do not attempt to run this 48v Cart on 32v. Undervoltage is very hard on expensive components like speed controllers. My adivce is 'do not turn the key on until you have 48v or better' THe charger will come on when it is connected to enough voltage to see the pack, which 32v is too low.

Re: Charger
I disconnected the batteries and charged them individually, now have 50v.Charger still wont come on.Does the gray wire from chager receptacle to the computer read battery voltage and turn on charger? It is a controller cart not resistor.

Re: Charger
By MID 1960s do you mean 1995 or newer? It helps alot to know what year cart you have before trying tp help with long distance diagnose problems? In 1995-1996 period there were 3 different wired types of Club Car alone with solid state controllers? What is exact year, what type of F&R switch do you have and then we can start to help you. Its like trying to repair a auto with a blindfold on and not know what brand it is.

Re: Charger
"Thanks got it fixed" What did you find wrong? Please share as others down the road may have the same problem and want cures? As you can see the "Forum" is willing and able to advise you, but want to share in what cured the problem.
ALL OF US HAVE MADE MISTAKES in wiring and operation so ( IF ) that is what happened let us know. If not we can all learn from your cure. |
