2000 electric Club Car - batteries
I just posted this in the wrong section (I think).
I have a 2000 electric Club Car and need help. The battery box appears to be corroding and I don't know how much time I have left before the middle two batteries fall out while I'm driving. I've tried putting flat alumimun strips across the bars to help support the batteries but when the main frame is gone I'm not sure what to do. Do I just need to take it in and get a new battery box welded in? Thanks, Golfcartgal in Mn. |

Re: 2000 electric Club Car - batteries
This is common problem ... the aluminum frames corrode away over time. Batteries do not fall out as they lean on each other at some point and span the weak spot. Replace the rotted frames with aluminum angle iron 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 x 14 3/4 in the side boxes and 16" in the center. It is best to remove the corroded side frame piece and screw the new piece in it's place. In the center you can usually lay the repair piece over the orig and still have room for the the batts.

Re: 2000 electric Club Car - batteries
I had this same problem earlier this year with my 2000 CC. The dealer replaced the battery rack for less than $100. It is solid as a rock. I believe it is a better solution for us mechanically-challenged cart people than the do it yourself solutions which I originally tried but were unsatisfactory. Good luck.
