A8620 Died

Greetings,

My first problem post so don't beat me up to bad.

As part of a purchase I am now the proud owner of a V A8620 Club Car. Previous owner had it stored under a tarp on a covered patio for 2 years with sporadic use. She had 6 new batteries installed about 6 weeks ago. The first two weekends I used the cart it ran like a charm. Brakes need adjusting since she used the hill brake instead of wheel chock to keep it in place bu that is another post. Last weekend I climbed aboard turned on the key, put it in forward and got nothing but clicks. One under the pedal and one under the seat.

I have some familiarity with an 82 EZ Go I tinkered with half of last summer. When I lifted the seat I saw fewer similarities than I expected so joined this forum. With everyone's help I hope to spend more time fishing and less time cart tinkering.

Look to the fireing range, turn head to left, and you will see me waving back as I drive by the lake to see the waves, or then again I will be out fishing.
You have a resistor cart, not real sure on them but scotty is. I think you may have a bad solenoid, I'm not sure beyond that. I live in the slums of Lake Erie. Jerry's should have them.

Thanks Fishing Dude, I was out on NW Reef Sunday. Brought in 12 keepers.

I was thinking it might be the master selenoid. I am also going to clean and/or replace the cables back to the selenoids. Am I crazy or is there less space to work in the CC electrical compartment than the EZ Go.

YEs I have seen many posts on here where the master solenoid is the problem. I have also seen where some have swapped out the master with another for testing to help in diagnosis..but a voltmeter would be much easier if you have one. The master solenoid is the one on the farthest left side (drivers side) good luck

Thanks ooxfordlawn, I have a voltmeter and I am sure I have seen a post on the forum on how to test them. Now the fun begins finding it.

Fishing Dude, it was the master solenoid. When I tried to remove it the large front terminal snapped off exposing the burnt plaskolite inside. I am going to take scottyb's advice in another post and replace all 5. Know of any suppliers that offer quantity discounts?


i swear everything I touch is so rusty or corroded it snaps off in my hand. ****, now I need a mirco switch and 11.5" connector bar. Even the hold down rods are half eaten away on their tops.

Oh well, I start on-call tomorrow so cannot leave Columbus for PC for two wweks. Plenty of time to order goodies and get them delivered.

For your solenoid connector bar I use a piece of 1/2" heavy wall copper tubing flattened and drilled to fit. Its heavier than stock and I have only had one case where it got hot and that was with a 2 speed motor and HD wiring along with HUGE TIRES?
Wouldnt this be a good time to switch over to a PB6 throttle control and a solid state controller and dump the resistor set up? You would have about $300-$500 in change over costs plus wiring that would be offset by cost of 5 solenoids and possibly some resistors and insulating board costs on your stock setup.
Just my .02c worth??

That is definatly something to be considered. I was just sitting here putting together a parts list so now would be the time to compare.
