IQ motor super hot
last week had problem with motor making noise and replaced bearing. Today took family out for a 15 minute ride during ride motor hesitated once then seemed fine.Got back to house and smelled a strong burning varnish odor and felt motor and was very hot.My question is it that the motor is bad or is it going bad. This is a 2004 club car precedent that two weeks I took to the woods and been having problems ever since. when I took motor apart it was dry and clean except for bad bearing everything looked fine .

Re: IQ motor super hot
Generally, when an electric motor smells burnt, it's usually burnt. Or at least on its way...The bearing going out probably allowed something else to wear.
Hopefully someone will have more info on this....Motors get hot, but the smell??.... |
